Texas politician condemned for tweeting a Biblical message just hours after Orlando massacre

Why should he not?  It's accurate Christian theology.  Romans chapters 1 & 2 condemns homosexuals and says that they will feel God's wrath.  And the text in Galatians simply reminds us of that.  The tweet is reinforcement of Christian beliefs. Those who object to it are obviously non-Christians or pseudo Christians

In the deadliest gun massacre in US history, a suspected Islamic extremist held more than 100 people hostage on Saturday night before gunning them down.

As the country reels in response to the news, Lieutenant Governor of Texas Dan Patrick - a fierce anti-LGBT campaigner - posted a picture of a psalm New Testament text implying men are responsible for their own fate.

'Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Galations 6:7,' the tweet read.

His tweet sparked outrage. 'Where is your compassion?' one Twitter user hit back. Another said: 'You should be ashamed of yourself.'

Despite the backlash, Patrick's social media team responded by posting the message again on his Facebook page at 10am.

Becuase any mention of God offend the ears of delicate little snowflakes who worship gaia during their silly Earthday celebrations or those who beleive all life crawled out of the ocean as some stupid fish

Like in the Emperor's New Suit of Clothes, so many pretend not see what indirect part they may have in yet another massacre. The gay-hating Muslims say it was nothing to do with Islam despite what their religion specifically says; the gay-hating Christians say it has nothing to do with them despite creating hostility towards gays because of what their religion specifically says; the gun-lobby says it has nothing to do with them despite inappropriately powerful weaponry being too readily available to psychopaths and the mentally unstable. Even the entertainment industry denies any indirect responsibility despite producing an endless stream of brutal virtual violence and mayhem, enough to desensitize a vegan.

10:07 - guns facilitate crime as crime facilitates gun use - it's a vicious circle of dependence.

It is true and clear to see once our eyes are tuned in to the cycles within and around us. We reap what we sow.

10:49 - the use of the Biblical quote was to suggest it was the victims' fault to be gay or be in a gay club, and by inference that the gunman-murderer was an agent of divine Nemesis like some Angel of Death from the Old Testament.
Another so-called Christian pastor has appeared on YouTube preaching that the gay victims got what they deserved and that all gays should be lined up against a wall and shot (what is the difference with that kind of Christianity and Nazism?).

What is the difference between anti-gay Christians like that preacher and 'Islamic State', other than the opportunity to carry out the executions that both their holy books endorse?

Anon 3;32 - Oh thousands of your sainted gays dead in the name of Allah is one little difference. Guess that doesn't register on your radar.

10:12 AM - your response shows you have no sensible argument or point to make other than being personally rude to other posters here, and in such a puerile fashion!

5:07 AM - I guess it didn't register on your radar of limited English comprehension to see that 3:32 pointed out that the Christian preacher plainly said he wanted to do what islamists do based on similar Biblical text, but evidently he didn't have the opportunity - yet !

3.00AM - Yes, my comment drifted from keeping relevant to the article. I certainly was not suggesting that those shot were receiving some sort of divine retribution for being homosexual. I meant "we reap what we so" as applicable to life generally. But it seems not all things that happen are consequential, for there seems to be plenty of random chance going on too, or so it seems. But who can see enough of the big picture and its dynamics to know for sure? At any given time our choices are clearly limited to those options that exist within the bounds of the consequences of our previous choices. And are also limited by the consequences of other's choices that override or envelop our own. Perhaps there is essentially only two things in existence, freewill and consequence.
