EU considers scrapping citizen petitions which force parliament to consider appeals with enough support after a million people call for gay marriage to be axed

There are some things you must not ask

The EU is backtracking over a proposal that allows citizen appeals to be heard in parliament after one million people signed a petition calling for gay marriage to be scrapped.

European leaders now want to review the scheme amid fears it is being hijacked by minority campaign groups pushing their agenda on controversial and 'emotionally charged' issues.

The legislation, called the European Citizens' Initiative, allows petitions that have gathered more than one million signatures to be heard before parliament.

But President Jean-Claude Juncker has signalled his desire to review the scheme after an anti-gay marriage group collected one million signatures.

The minutes of a meeting on December 9 revealed EU lawyers warned the group's petition met all the requirements of the legislation, and the organisation was legally-bound to allow it to be heard.

Members were concerned the proposed citizens' laws did not move the EU project forward, rather they involved 'highly controversial and emotionally charged issues of greater interest to minorities'.

So democracy in in its truest form is not appealing to those in power. Obviously more people power is needed.

Marriage laws cannot yet be enacted or amended by the EU, and are still up to the individual member states.

The people have spoken, now the government has to decide whether they actually care to listen.

Here in the U.S. we spoke, had our say and passed laws dealing with this only to have the Supreme Court piss in our faces.

It is another inconvenient truth that politicians are all for allowing people to have their say - so long as what they say accords with what politicians want.
Very popular in North Korea too.

Homosexuality is not just a sexual preference; it is a world unto itself. Those who are familiar with homosexual lifestyle, common practices and attitudes, as I am because I have counselled countless homosexuals, will know that most homosexuals are not interested in marriage for themselves anyway, and of those few who are, their idea of marriage seldom includes mutual sexual exclusiveness. When decent minded heterosexuals are informed of homosexual lifestyle, common practices and attitudes, they can seldom mentally bear to take it in, often cannot believe it, they feel sad, sometimes upset, reject it, react emotionally and often assume the person informing them is lying and hates homosexuals, which I don't - I don't hate anyone - it is that the listeners hate what they are hearing. Most who learn about the homosexual world find it unpleasant, sad and tragic. Will marriage help homosexuals? I don't know. It might help some. And will the benefits out way the detriments to society as a whole? I don't know. I don't like the idea of it, but I am willing to go with whatever society as a whole decides. It shouldn't be imposed upon us though, not by force or manipulation.

Besides, there is the civil contract option which they already have. The homosexual marriage push is being driven mostly by smart feminists/lefties who hate the church and are stirring and manipulating homosexuals and others as pawns to use against it.

There isn't just one "homosexual lifestyle" or standard of sexual practice, any more than there are for heterosexuals. While some homosexual practices may surprise or shock some heterosexuals - so what! Some hetero sexual practices are pretty shocking too, not to say marital infidelity which is quite common, so why single out gays for that.
There are also many homosexuals that live quite banal lives, and some gay couples who live together more as companions than sexual partners. So why shouldn't they be on an equal footing with other couples who happen to be wholly or partly heterosexual, otherwise it is prejudicial discrimination. And why should there be two types of "marriage", one for gays and one for straights. That's a form of apartheid, and the concept of "equal but separate" has been discredited.

Whether or not most homosexuals want marriage (however that is ascertained), is not the point. Legal marriage gives legal protection to the partners by becoming next-of-kin and therefore with rights in matters of power-of-attorney, inheritance and important things like hospital visits and medical decisions. Any two adults who want to be so legally married should not be disqualified on grounds of mere gender. Civil partnerships go some way but are not on an equal par with so-called marriage in the full range of marital rights. Those who think marriage is a religious matter are free to have a religious ceremony which may or may not be recognized as legal by the state, and those who think marriage should be between one man and one woman are also free to have such a marriage.

A generalisation is a recognisable pattern within a majority. Naturally a minority fall outside of that pattern, otherwise there wouldn't be a recognisable pattern within a majority. I could list many practices and attitudes that are common in homosexual lifestyle and so sad and tragic that they would at first shock and then incite pity in the heart of most decent persons strong enough to bear them. How male youth and young men are targeted, the degree and types of drug use, the degree and types of violence, the internal hatreds and prejudices, the common diseases and common psychological conditions, the particular kinds of self harm, the loneliness of middle and old age for homosexuals, the rate and methods of suicide, and the common psychological effects and abuses of the homosexual lifestyle -- all these are covered up and denied by homosexuals. Homosexuals don't call themselves gay for nothing.

And leftists, particularly cunning and treacherous feminists who get themselves into socially manipulative positions such as counsellors and youth workers will do anything to manipulate receptive male youths, young men and men in crisis, towards their weakest and their worst, because its all good for the stats and funding, and more importantly it feeds leftist beliefs, delusions and projections.

One of the unrecognised suffering groups caused by the leftist homosexual push is that group of young men who were conned into thinking they were homosexual by their leftist school teacher/counsellor/youthworker, targeted because they were in someway susceptible to leftist manipulation. As an example, a case I dealt with: A young heterosexual man conned into thinking homosexuality was natural was so disgusted with himself that he hung himself, only to be found by a passer by and cut down before he was dead, so after recovery he scalded his entire face and head with steam, then threw himself off a high roof only to survive as a physical and psychological tragedy.

On stat forms in psych units and counselling facilities there is never a category for male heterosexual victims of the leftist homosexuality push. But there is usually a box to tick for homosexual depression and suicide. So in a final ironic insult to such heterosexual men, cases of depression, ptsd and suicide associated with regretful or traumatic homosexual experience often go in the stats as being homosexuals, and get used to further feed the feminist-leftist homosexuality push.

2:01 - sounds a bit of a conspiracy argument and therefore dubious or exaggerated. The very fact homosexuals are maginalized will make a good many depressed and suicidal, and when their only apparent outlet is the superficial commercial scene of bars, clubs and hedonistic "parties" there is also a risk of alcoholism and drug-dependence, and little chance of finding reliable and long-lasting friendships or life-partners. However, there are gay social groups and associations that are not sex-related and it is possible for homosexuals to find occupations and lifestyles that are not emotionally stressful, so that they can gain some self-respect and fulfillment in their lives. I somehow doubt truly heterosexual young men can be persuaded that they are really gay or latently homosexual, though they might be bi-sexual.
