Sephora under fire from critics for selling a lipstick named 'Underage Red'
In their desperation to be creative, advertising agencies do go a bit over the top at times
Beauty giant Sephora has been slammed by its customers in the US for marketing a lipstick which is named 'Underage Red'.
The offensively-labeled item, which is part of a range of beauty products created by tattoo artist-turned-reality star Kat Von D, real name Katherine von Drachenberg, 33, has caused outrage among customers, many of whom have taken to social media to vent their anger at the store.
'Went shopping for some makeup. How on earth is this a lipstick color?' one person questioned on Twitter, after posting a picture of the lipstick name.
'JESUS do they have a whole sex offender line?' someone else tweeted. 'Lipstick named by creeps,' another person added.

Why should "underage" girls not wear lipstick?

I am sure they are laughing all the way to the bank. The "underage girls" this is market to will purchase it due to the disproval of their "overage complaining parents". Brilliant marketing move and the negative commentary will only sell more of the product. It continues to amaze me that these campaigners do not remotely comprehend supply and demand.
MDH
MDH - Maybe but probably not. Underage girls almost as a whole all want to be OLDER, it's more likely that the target market is the women that have just slid past their prime who are desperately trying to turn back the clock. That market has more money too.
One of the sad truths of our times is that at almost no age are women actually happy with their age and while one more complacent about it men are becoming that way too.

Advertising becomes more ridiculous all the time.
I made an unintended joke one time; we were discussing how girls feel about their ages. I said about age, "Young girls lie up, older girls lie down.".
Anyone wanna bet that a score of cosmetic lines have had color called "Sweet Sixteen" over the years? I'll go further; I fully expect to learn that at least one has had a color called "sweet sexteen". It's a frickin' COSMETICS COMPANY, f'cryin' out loud. Of COURSE it's tacky.
