Outrage over avuncular fat jokes

Gillibrand shares a sobering incident in the congressional gym where an older, male colleague told her, ‘Good thing you’re working out, because you wouldn’t want to get porky!’

On another occasion, she writes, after she dropped 50 LBS, one of her fellow Senate members approached her, squeezed her stomach, and said, ‘Don’t lose too much weight now. I like my girls chubby.’ .....

I mean, we are digressing here, we are not getting better, we are going backwards. And this is just got to stop. So women and men and people who are in this country and cover the Senate should not be surprised, they should be angry. This is ridiculous.

Leftists can't bear to admit that female attractiveness matters.  We're all EQUAL, don't you know?

General "Female Attractiveness" should only matter to current and potential mates, and not to colleagues or business associates. These comments would (and should) be condemned in the general workplace as "sexual harassment," where they could constitute a "hostile work environment."

Yes, female attractiveness is noticed by men and women all the time. However, that doesn't require comments which should be reserved for a bar or club, or wherever these Senators troll for their next "hook up."

Normal, that is non-liberal, women and girls like to be admired for their beauty.

Of course she could have replied with a snappy put down, as most women would, but she prefers to make a federal case out of it or at least score political points with her base. She should be happy to be judged on her looks rather than her record. Perhaps that's what this is really all about, a distraction from her porky record. Misdirection, it's what Democrats do best aside from destroying the country.

I'm assuming that these stories are made up. Leftists make up things like this all the time to push a point. It happens all the time on college campuses where people claim racism or sexism but they themselves created it. Black leftist congress people claimed the Tea Party hurled racist remarks to them during a rally in Washington DC but the video and audio of the event did not show that. It didn't matter that there was no evidence, just the claim was enough to make the Tea Party the party of racists. So I have doubts that she actually received these comments.

I vote for made up as well, that anyone would even approach a twit like her in a gym is implausible.

Beauty inside matters most. Good looks will fade away eventually.

Litmus test: if the same remarks - e.g. "Good thing you’re working out, because you wouldn’t want to get porky"’ - had been made man-to-man, would the reaction have been the same?

If not, then Gillibrand is promoting a double standard.

/and yeah, the orig story sounds pretty made up or at least exaggerated

I would have thought 'regressing' rather than 'digressing'
