Dreadlock controversy

Unfortunately, it wasn't the clothes that made the headlines at Marc Jacob's New York Fashion Week show.

It was the designer's controversial decision to use a cast of predominately white models - which included Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid - with huge multicolored wool dreadlocks.

Many people online have blasted Marc Jacobs for the move, accusing the brand of cultural appropriation.

'Dreadlocks are part of black culture, something you have no business trying to sell or appropriate. Do better,' wrote Twitter user Maia.

Others questioned why there were so few black models in the show. 'Dreadlocks and yet no black models. Smh,' wrote one user. nother tweeted: 'Y'all made your models wear dreadlocks but only use two black models? Bye.'

Marc Jacobs say the look was inspired by rave culture, London 1980s fashion and and Harajuku girls - black culture was not mentioned.

But some furious Tweeters claimed that white people should be banned from wearing dreadlocks altogether.

Dreadlocks are apparent in many different cultures, from the ancient Greeks and Egyptians, to right through to modern day India, Africa and white counterculture.

But in America, it is most closely linked to black culture and is sometimes used as a symbol of black pride.

By screaming cultural appropriation they show their ignorance for all to see.

There is no such thing as "cultural appropriation" just as there is no such thing as an "assault rifle." Both are made-up terms used to try and stop some people from using them, while allowing others to use them.

You may want to rethink that part on the "assault rifle" being a made up term for the purpose you state..

The US Army in the early 1970's published and distributed to soldiers a book on identifying different weapons from other countries. The book includes the term "assault rifle" in regards to several guns, including the AK-47.

An "assault rifle" refers to a weapon which can be fired in full auto mode. The version sold to the public looks like an "assault rifle," but lacks the full auto option. One pull on the trigger equals one round fired. The gun control types and press through ignorance, as well as duplicity, spread the lie to further their agenda.

If the black community want to talk about cultural appropriation the why aren't whey wearing animal skins and living in grass huts while communicating in an African language?

9:01,

It is the flip side of the same reason why anti-science conservatives use computers and cell phones.

2:24 It's the lefties that hate science because science proves that their theories are bullshit. That's why there is so much hate in the universities for free speech and the truth. They distort science in their universities to support their socialist causes. Until the leftist influence in universities is negated we will continue entering a new dark age.

Hey, I'm all for banning cultural appropriation. So, to wit: if you're not white, no blue jeans, no iPhones, no light bulbs, no straightening of kinky hair, no clothes of non-tribal origin, no trains, no automobiles, limits to certain categories of medical care........ well, you get the picture.
