Teacher fired after using the word ‘vagina’ in art history class

A TEACHER spoke a word apparently so outrageous, so nauseating, that she was fired from her job. That word? Vagina.

Last week, substitute teacher Allison Wint was leading an art history class at Harper Creek Middle School — a job she had been in since January — while discussing the paintings by George O’Keeffe, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Some of O’Keeffe’s work does actually look like abstract portrayals of the female anatomy, and Wint recalled saying to her class: “Imagine walking into a gallery when (O’Keeffe) was first showing her pieces, and thinking, ‘Am I actually seeing vaginas here, am I a pervert? I’m either a pervert or this woman was a pervert’.”

Wint said she was trying to spark an insightful conversation with her teenage students, using the word vagina about 10 times — which she stressed was never in a vulgar way. But it was deemed inapproriate for 14-15 year-old ears, costing the Michigan woman her job.

She said she hadn’t wanted to use a euphemism, like the often used ‘vajayjay’ or ‘lady bits’, so as to not turn her lesson into a joke.

Oh, teens are so delicate. I wonder how many of them have already participated in sexual activity.

You would lose money betting that it was not conservatives who got her fired. And they would claim it was not about free speech but "decency". Since she was a paid employee, her employers get to determine if her behavior meets the employment standard and can "free her future" if it does not. She could probably sue for wrongful termination because it is doubtful the district followed their complex termination protocol and vagina is not a curse or slur but that would not get her much. Better to just realize you did not want to work for a group of spineless idiots and move on.

The article mixes the name Georgia with George. But the artist was a woman named Georgia. Anyway, as flowers are the sex organs of plants, biology teachers must be getting fired every day if they ever say so!

Waste of time to teach abstract art since it means whatever the viewer wants it to mean and is therefore a tabula rasa for propaganda when taught, guaranteed to tick off one side or another to no purpose.

And, as I often point out in these cases, there is almost certainly more to this story, too; i.e. someone(s) wanted her fired over prior issues and this event merely provided the excuse. Too bad that most so-called reporters are usually just templaters.

Anon 2:37 I guess you don't like vaginas. Ya queer or something?

What's perverse is to be shocked or ashamed about our body parts. We all came out of vaginas and many of us sucked on nipples as babies. It's all quite natural, and those who think otherwise are UN-natural (and need therapy!).
