Ohio College said ‘Men Working’ Sign Was Too Sexist
There used to be a lot of warning signs on country roads in Australia saying "Men at work". In response to complaints that there were in fact usually no workmen in sight, that was changed to "Workmen ahead". There still usually weren't any, though
Following an election where the alleged “War on Women” was a major incentive to vote for a number of citizens, an Ohio community college asked a construction crew to remove the common “Men Working” sign after an administrator reportedly found it sexist and non-inclusive.
The construction crew at Sinclair Community College in Dayton was forced to stop working until the sign had been removed.
A spokesman for the college told Fox News that they have a deep commitment to diversity and take it quite seriously.
One Fox News commenter joked about the next step: “Men and Women restrooms seems divisive also…in fact, ‘no dogs allowed’ seems unfair to everyone except the cat.”

If there were no women on the job site, then what's the problem? If there were women, then change the sign to "Work in progress".
This isn't rocket science. It's people not willing to make a decision and follow through.

Well, making the sign gender neutral will satisfy the feminists and genderqueers, but what about the big percentage of liberals who are workqueer? Does people working offend them?

I'm sure there are numerous other problems at the university that need to be solved and this is what the self important school officials worry about? I'm sure that the union construction workers still got paid while work stopped for this nonsense, all on the public's dime while these officials were grandstanding.
Fine, in the future purchase signs that are gender neutral, but until the current signs need to replaced because of wear/lost/stolen continue to use them.
If "the construction crew ... was forced to stop working until the sign had been removed" and didn't have the gumption to give two fingers to the complainant and keep going, they don't deserve to be called men. So perhaps the sign was wrong after all!

Guess the 80's group 'Men at Work' would not perform at that college. Too bad rather liked th Aussie band.
I keep wondering- Were there any women working? If not, wasn't the sign correct? I suppose it's wrong to even bring up the fact that there are 2 sexes.

What I don't get is these signs have been used for at least 50 years (my lifetime) so why NOW is it "offensive?"
Why is something we have been doing for god (oops, I will get in trouble for that word) nows how long all of the sudden it's "offensive?"
