Must not dress like a Red Indian?

There is an old proverb:  "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."  So imitating American Indians should be a compliment to them and their way of life.  I have read a lot on the subject but still have no idea why Leftists  consider it an insult.  I must be very thick

Charlotte Casiraghi has become the latest public figure to spark anger for wearing a Native American costume.

The Monaco royal, 26, who chose the ensemble to participate in the Gucci-sponsored Paris Masters International Jumping Competition this weekend, was branded 'ignorant' and 'racist' by Tumblr users, many of whom appeared to be royal fans, judging by their usernames.

Royalwatcher wrote on the site: 'I don’t know who told her it was cute to dress in traditonal [sic] clothing of Native American but gurlll, I’m judging you and not in the good way.'

Another, named Prin-ses-ka-ro-leen, added: 'Dear Charlotte Casiraghi, American Indians still endure racism, ignorance and abuse on a regular basis simply because they are Native. You displayed terribly poor judgment in your choice of "outfit."'

'Other riders dressed up as Roman warriors, donkeys, angels, and Flintstones - you know, costumes - while Casiraghi opted for an outfit that has been publicly denounced as racist time and time again,' reporter Hilary George-Parkin wrote.

If you are pretty and a member of European Royalty I guess that the neuroses of the American Left don't really matter to you

We really need a cool name for this affliction leftists have. When you make your kid sick to get attention for yourself, it's call "Munchhausen By Proxy Syndrome."

What should we call it when you make yourself offended "for others" to get carte blanche to criticize someone?

The next phase of political correctness is here.

Bleeding-heart liberals create, then defend, "victims" simply to help alleviate their own guilt, and to perhaps loath themselves a bit less. Actually, they couldn't care less about the so-called victimes they invent. It's all about them.

Bird, political correctness has become a cancer on our society, and is made stronger by the mindless fools who subscribe to it.

PC was created to replace truth and honesty, and since those are two of the things most people fear dealing with, it has flourished. It also gives the weak the ability not to have to think for themselves.

Modern “native americans” who conquered and destroyed the previous native americans were forced to live on reservations and in later times have opted to live apart from the rest of society to maintain the customs and a lifestyle that is being imitated. Shows how little the left knows about them that they consider it racist to imitate them or their values.

Not a PC story, but it shows liberal deviants in action.

I wonder if, when going around the world telling everyone else how they should live, Americans talk about what they did, and continue to do, to an entire race of Native Americans.

Never in America's history was there a more "deliberate and devious" plan to eliminate an entire race of people simply because of insatiable greed. And yet we have the audacity and arrogance to dare tell other nations how to treat their people.

If all the squaws looked that good, we wouldn't have tried so hard to eradicate the indians!

And the sad truth is that those who complained were very NOT American Indians. Only in this age can we consider honoring a culture to be racist and insensitive.

3:49 - Many Americans today like to distant themselves from the genocidal activities of the original colonists and pioneers by blaming it on "the Europeans" as though those still in Europe are somehow more guilty - just as modern Australians do the same re the treatment of the Aborigines.

The original colonists and those who followed and committed the genocide you speak of did so long before any of us were born, so WE cannot be held accountable for those acts. Which is EXACTLY why the Politically Correct movement is so damaging, because it tries to place blame on those who simply were not involved. I honor the Native American, not because of the suffering his ancestors endured, but for the culture they represent today.

Anon 6:26.........just what is it about the Indians that you "honor?" Their refusal or failure to assimilate into society? Their sitting on the "res" getting drunk and high? To escape the despair of their own lack of drive and ambition I presume. Or do you admire the the tribes smart enough to exploit the natural resources on their land? Oil, natural gas: all that evil stuff. Or is it the casino gambling: exploiting the palefaces weakness? You know those profiting from capitalism.

Just what is it about a class of perpetual victims that you "honor?"
