CA: Judge temporarily blocks “gay therapy” ban
"A federal judge on Monday temporarily blocked California from enforcing a first-of-its-kind law that bars licensed psychotherapists from working to change the sexual orientations of gay minors, but he limited the scope of his order to just the three providers who have appealed to him to overturn the measure.
U.S. District Court Judge William Shubb made a decision just hours after a hearing on the issue, ruling that the First Amendment rights of psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health professionals who engage in 'reparative' or 'conversion' therapy outweigh concern that the practice poses a danger to young people."

Ever since Freud, talking therapy has indeed been big among psychiatrists and among some psychologists. It probably does no good but there is no doubt that it is speech.

Only in California do we have idiots who pass as Judges and the infamous 9th circut court is a good example of this
"Talking Therapy" = "Expensive Friend"
So whatever happened to tolerance? Oh, that's right, the Left is only tolerant when it suites the Left.
Good one Old Man.
I see this more as a therapeutic goods and professional/vocational regulation issue.
Medical practitioners can not and should not perform procedures which do no good, nor prescribe drugs which do no good.
I don't have any problem with therapy for SSA but does it actually do any good?
Child-abuse by commercial "psychotherapists".
Therapy for SSA should be allowed for those who want to try it. It should never be forced on anyone.
In my opinion the majority of those dealing with SSA will not be helped by therapy. Common sense says that sexual orientation is based more on genetic makeup than choice, and no amount of therapy will change genetic makeup.
Our Orwellian society needs the therapy not the individual victims who have to live in it.
