Only Muslims can say that their religion is the one true faith

The writer below reserves his condemnation for a Christian pastor who thinks he has the one true faith

I called the pastor to make sure I had heard him correctly. He confirmed that I did, and kindly elaborated by explaining that the followers of the Koran – the Muslims – do not pray to the same God. He explained that their God is a hateful God.

The pastor continued by saying, “if you go to the doctor with cancer, you expect the doctor to tell you the proper treatment.” He explained that the treatment prescribed might be a “tough pill to swallow,” but the doctor has to tell you the truth. He continued by saying that if spiritual growth, salvation or eternal life are being sought, then it is his duty to describe the one and only avenue to enlightenment, and that is only through Jesus Christ. All other avenues are false.

I explained to the pastor that my experience listening to his sermon was negative and that I felt his theme was divisive and judgmental. I felt he was teaching hate and fear.

The pastor was simply preaching what Jesus had said in John 14:6"Jesus saith unto him, I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Note that He did not say 'a' way or 'a' truth.
It is not hateful to warn someone of the dangers ahead. Eze_33:8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Eze_33:9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

We truly do not know if Allah is a hateful god but most of his followers view non Islamic believers as vermin to be exploited or eradicated. And they do not believe that non male believers in Islam are much more than slaves. It is amazing that progressives protect such a warped world view.

"I felt he (the pastor) was teaching hate and fear."

So do ALL religions. Big deal. Suck it up, towel head.

In the free market place, if you don't like what your religious leader is telling you, you are free to find another church. I find it funny that people join a particular church and then expect the church to bend itself to what makes that person feel comfortable. I thought the whole point was to change yourself to conform with the religious beliefs of the faith you have chosen. You are choosing a faith so as to conform your life to the will of the Supreme Being you have chosen to worship, not expecting the Supreme Being to cater to your wishes. Otherwise, why join that particular church?

Religious people all have their personal interpretation or "take" on the religion, sect, or denomination they adhere to, regardless of what the "official" line is, though of course there are endless disputes within and without as to the "correct" interpretations, hence we've had the endless cruel wars and persecutions that have, and continue, to undermine civilization.

Such theists are puerile - it's no better than saying "My Deity/Dad can beat your Deity/Dad".

I say let the track record of the religion speak for itself.

Islam = Convert or die!

Christians = Want to convert? No? ok god be with you!

Christians have some blood on their hands for sure over the centuries, but Muslims have murdered more people in the name of their religion in the past month than christens have in their entire 2,000 your history!

Islam is a religion where god requires you to send your son to die for him, Christianity is a religion where god sent HIS son to die for YOU!

Jesus willingly suffered and died on the cross, in the single greatest act of love the world has ever witnessed. Show me a muslim who has ever even come close to that!

The idiot who called islam the Religion of Peace needs to have their head examened and the loose screws tightened

It is illogical to think that various religions are all correct, since they often contradict. The only possible conclusions are either one is correct and the others are false or they are all false. So it is quite logical to claim that one religion is true and others false.

I can remember back when some were calling SUNG MUNG WEIRD-MOON the KING of PEACE

8:39 - Yes, but in view of the numerous religions and their countless subsets, the odds against only one version be "correct" is remote indeed, and even if some religious ideas are clearly more illogical than some others. In the end they all have to fall back on "faith" being as they are without empirical evidence or undisputed "evidence".

Anon 4:06 - Yes, religion "undermines" civilization the way a foundation undermines a house. The lack of "religion" that is often espoused by "non-believers" leads to the abuses of Stalin and Mao - doing horribly "evil" things for the greater "good." Of course, there being no "god" to hold a standard, Good and Evil become factional definitions to be evaluated by each individual, and imposed as some irrational majority may whim.

Is it not fraud for religions to promise that if followers repeat prescribe phrases or routines there will be wonderful rewards or benefits after death that they cannot deliver ? ? ?

Stan - it is ridiculous and even insulting to ordinary "non-believers" to say that their world-view leads to the excesses of certain notorious dictators. Belief in a god (and some moral standard linked to it) did not and still does not prevent some believers doing evil things, whether it's in religious wars and persecutions, or for example priests in holy orders who abuse children today, and even church authorities criminally covering it up!

Stan B,

These people (Stalin and Mao) simply put their competition (Religion) out of business. These type of people want absolute power. Religion just gets in their way. Got it?

Stan. "Got it?" - You are saying something else now, which of course I agree with.

Sorry 2:41, I read your comment too quickly as coming from Stan.

Yes, religion (particularly Christianity) doed get in the way because people develop a conscience which tends to resist the evils men do.
