The race-obsessed NCAA are forcing their bigotries down the neck of the UND still
"University of North Dakota teams risk forfeiting any post-season games if their athletes, cheerleaders or band wear or display the school's Fighting Sioux nickname and American Indian head logo, an NCAA official said Wednesday.
Bernard Franklin, an NCAA executive vice president, said in a letter to university provost Paul LeBel that the university "must forfeit competition" if "it has not adhered to this requirement" in any post-season games that UND teams have been invited to play in.
Brian Faison, the university's athletic director, said the letter should help convince skeptics of the reality of NCAA sanctions.
""We knew going in that this was a possibility, but it's in black and white now," Faison said. "It's very clear what will happen."
The nickname and logo, and the NCAA's attitudes toward them, have been the focus of an intense political and legal debate in North Dakota.

Fuck the ncaa, who are located in INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA. Flaming hypocrites. They tried this crap with Florida State, it did not work. The school should have no mascot, no offcial colors or even have a band. If it was a muslim school and had the name the burning Christians, it would be ok.
When will the PC weinies at the NCAA announce a plan to close the racial gap in their basketball and football programs? Whites, Hispanics and Asians are being woefully underrepresented.
Special interest groups have the ear of the NCAA when the issue is more black basketball and football coaches but the NCAA is blind to non-PC "racial gaps".
The NCAA and the rest of the PC-mafia are blatant hypocrites.
Political Correctness is a rediclous concept being forced on us all in the name of divercity
Off topic: Not really about PC, but about leftist sexism, hypocrisy, special privileges, discrimination, etc..

Just unbelievable. Next they will tell you you have to vote for women in elections.
Time to tell the NCAA to GO POUND SAND
So "the timid sioux" would presumably be ok then? Or is it wrong to even mention that the sioux exist?
They should sue for sioux
Thats a good one annon 3:32
Here's another article with more info than the linking article. Specifically:
North Dakota challenged the NCAA edict in court. In a settlement, the school agreed to begin retiring its nickname if it could not obtain consent to continue its use from North Dakota’s Standing Rock and Spirit Lake Sioux tribes by Nov. 30, 2010.
Spirit Lake tribal members endorsed the name. But the Standing Rock Sioux’s tribal council, which opposed the nickname, has declined to support it or to allow its tribal members to vote.
Current supporters of the nickname and petition drive include members of both the Spirit Lake and Standing Rock Sioux tribes.
By the terms of the settlement, they need to retire the name, because that's what they agreed to. I think it's interesting that even though the Standing Rock tribal council doesn't want the name used, there are members of that tribe that actually like the name.
Of course, I think this whole thing is idiocy because teams choose names that signify strength, competitiveness, endurance, and yes, even character. I don't see how such names are an insult, unless those qualities are somehow bad things.
Will they be going after names like Spartans, Trojans and the like because they're an insult too? What will be left? The "Pink Bunnies"? "Yellow Chicks"? Oh wait, that last one must be an obvious insult because it can be applied to a person (even though I was thinking of marshmallow peeps when coming up with those names).
How about Team 1? Team 7? etc? Nope, implies ranking. Team A? Team B? Nope, still implies ranking, and insults numbers by excluding them. They can't use "unnamed team from North Dakota" because Dakota is an Indian name.
All that will be left when these eager to be insulted pantywastes get through with their "ooooohhh, everyone is a victim" garbage is "the team from an unnamed place" and "the other team from another unnamed place." P.C. idiocy. Pure idiocy.
Just before I closed the tab with my search results, this article caught my eye. I don't recall hearing about this:
Speaking at the tribal headquarters of the Spirit Lake Sioux Nation, attorney Reed Soderstrom announced a lawsuit against the NCAA alleging copyright infringement and civil rights violations. The Sioux tribe supports the University of North Dakota’s “Fighting Sioux” nickname and logo, but the NCAA has deemed them to be “hostile and abusive.”
“Today, the Spirit Lake Tribe of Indians, by and through its Committee of Understanding and Respect, and Archie Fool Bear, individually, and as Representative of more than 1004 Petitioners of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, filed a lawsuit against the National Collegiate Athletic Association in direct response to their attempt to take away and prevent the North Dakota Sioux Indians from giving their name forever to the University of North Dakota,” said Soderstrom in prepared remarks.
Soderstrom alleges that the NCAA has violated “the religious and first amendment rights of the Dakota Sioux tribes.” He also alleged a double standard in the application of the NCAA’s policy against the use of Native American names and imagery.
Pick a white replacement. The Minutemen, The Saxons, The Normans. The Pillagers (with Viking mascot), The Nords (with the same?).
Back a few years ago some wackos tried to get the minuteman statue at U,MASS removed they failed
