Jail for speech in Britain

We read:
"A UK college student was jailed after posting offensive comments on Twitter following the collapse of Bolton soccer star Fabrice Muamba.

Liam Stacey, 21, was sentenced to 56 days in prison after he admitted a racially aggravated public order offence at Swansea Magistrates' Court.

The biology student, from Pontypridd, South Wales, made the offensive tweet after EPL player Muamba collapsed and stopped breathing on the field late in the first half of Bolton's televised FA Cup quarter-final clash with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on March 17.

He wrote, "LOL. F*** Muamba. He's dead!!! #haha."

When other Twitter users reacted angrily to the tweet, Stacey went on to post further abusive messages, including racist posts directed to black users.

No free speech in the EUROPEAN(SOVIET)UNION thats why we must oppose the NORTH AMERICAN(SOVIET)UNION by opposing THE DREAM ACT

I'd bet that many of the replies to his tweets were just as nasty has his. I haven't heard anything about anyone else involved being charged. Sounds like a probable double standard in action.

I can't believe the first tweet warranted a jail sentence, even in PCUK. What a sad country they have become, with the USA following right behind them.

This is not surprising. In order to become a true outpost for radical Islam, Britanistan must first rid itself of things like free speech and free thought. Just as they are doing.

And the response from the British people? Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z.

The response from this British person is - we could say the equivalent about your dreadful race relations, shocking crime rates and violence and why the American people don't seem to care about it and would rather go round the world trying to make other countries just like the US by military force or political and economic manipulation.

I'm very dubious about percentage-style statistics between countries that are so different in size and demographics. The US is of continental size and of hugely contrasting regions, whereas the UK and other European countries are very much smaller and more densely populated.

And if you took criminals "out of the equation" there would be less crime in the US (or anywhere)!

The US is only the "world's policeman" to protect its own global interests. If anyone else benefits is merely coincidental.
