Polish pop star faces two years’ prison for blasphemy

Under Communism for many years, Poles got used to criminalizing speech. They have some catching up to do.
"Under Poland’s blasphemy law, a Polish pop singer is facing two years in jail for interview comments about the Bible.

26-year-old Dorota Rabczewska, known as “Doda”, is a Polish pop star. Generally not much different from American pop stars — other than being a member of MENSA — Doda likes to speak her mind. That’s gotten her into some hot water this time around.

In a television interview last year, Doda explained that she found it far easier to believe in dinosaurs than the Bible; “it is hard to believe in something written by people who drank too much wine and smoked herbal cigarettes.”

Polish Catholics weren’t too pleased. Under Poland’s draconian blasphemy law, simply offending someone’s religious sensibilities can earn you hefty fines and even imprisonment.

I can't wait to see the liberals in this country go bananas over this.

THEN I will gleefully point out how THEY react the same way Poland did when it comes to Muslims.

Maybe it's about time we become just as "intolerant" of criticism of OUR religion as Muslims!

They should sentence her to house arrest. My house!

Ireland, the land of Saints and Scholars, just enacted a Blasphemy law.

I believe it was made a law recently just to appease the 50,000Muslims who live in Ireland....

That's correct my friends; 50,000 Islamic adherents in Ireland and even a Dublin Imam has recently come out and said many of the younger males are being radicalized.

The Irish government recognized that their could be riots in the streets if someone blurted out a nasty comment about Mohammud so to ensure peace the right of free speach is being stiffled on the Emerald Isle!

Most MENSA members, like most "highly intelligent" and "highly educated" people prove time and again that while they may be incredibly book-smart, they have absolutely no clue about proper inter-personal skills.

Intelligence does not equal Wisdom. It was a foolish thing to say but not worthy of punishment beyond having to live with it.

To the last 2 anyoms... And yet you want to claim support of free speech? Guess that falls right in there with freedom of religion (Only if you believe what I do)? Yopu would defend the right to free religous beleif ONLY if it fit in line with your own beleifs.

I will fight to the death in defense of free speech. And my remarks above, while based more on personal opinion than hard facts, are just as valid because freedom of speech gives me the right to voice my opinion just as she does.

Polish Communism and Polish Catholicism have a lot in common!
