Crazy mixed up gal in Norway

You can have free speech as long as you don't offend anybody, it seems

The Prime Minister and Minister of Children, Equality and Social Inclusion Minister Solveig Horne unveiled the government’s policy statement against hate speech.

- In a democracy, freedom of speech is inalienable. In Norway, we will defend free speech. At the same time the individual’s right not to be subjected to offensive and hurtful speech should be protected, says Prime Minister Erna Solberg.

Solberg notes that hate speech which limits the individual’s participation in the public sphere is a loss for the public debate and for democracy. With this political declaration, we undertake efforts to combat expressions that spread hatred, says she.

- I encourage as many as possible to join the political declaration and sign it online. We have seen that the price for participating in the public debate is high for many. We must have a debate climate where everyone can participate, without being afraid of being harassed, says Horne.

Free speech as long as it is insipid.

The right to free speech is well entrenched.
The 'right not to be subjected to offensive and hurtful speech' on the other hand, is imaginary and dangerous.

Sounds very Orwellian - much like you can own weapons but you're not allowed to use them.

Once speech is subject to censorship then it is no longer free.

Like all lefties she doesn't really want free speech. She wants to oppress free speech because she hates truth, reality as it is, human freewill and genuine goodwill. She can't say that outright without losing favour so she tries to hide it and ends up sounding illogical. No one is illogical, but not understanding their motives and intentions can make them seem so.

The level of a society's commitment to Free Speech can be measured not by how well they defend popular opinions and platitudinous claptrap. It is measured by how well they defend expression of the most hateful, hurtful, blasphemous, ignorant, and disgusting opinions. That is the measure of "freedom" in any society.

In a debate climate where everyone is guaranteed not to be offended, no one will participate.

Liberals are aalways doing things dumb then saying ITS FOR THE CHILDREN their usial idiotic excuse

Not just Liberals - the excuse that it's "for the children" or to protect "children", is how adults of one point of view often attack other adults of a different one; not unlike that other last-ditch argument - "civilization as we know it will soon end"!
