Australia: Apple apologises after allegations of racism by blacks

If I had a gang of 6 Africans in my shop, I'd be nervous too -- not because of racism but becoause of the high crime rate among blacks

Apple has apologised to six schoolboys asked to leave one of their shops in Australia, in what the students described as a racist incident.

Footage of the incident at Melbourne's Highpoint shopping centre emerged on Tuesday sparking a social media outcry. A staff member can be heard saying security are concerned that the boys will shoplift.

Apple said the store manager apologised to the boys, who are all black, and their school principal.

The video of the incident has been viewed more than 39,000 times on Facebook.  In it, a staff member can be heard saying: "These guys are … just a bit worried you might steal something".

When the boys protest, the staff member tells them: "End of discussion - I need to ask you to leave our store."

All of the students in the video are in Year 10 and attend Maribyrnong College in Melbourne.

Teenagers typically have no consideration for others regardless of race.

As in most cases like this that hit the news, this picks up part way through the interactions. Were the students acting like most teenage boys? Better? Suspiciously? What were the reasons the security people become suspicious? Are those reasons supported by past thefts and/or Apple's standard training?

We just don't know from the article or video. Therefore, it strikes me as impossible to reach an appropriate conclusion.

How about the fact that Somali and other northern African countries' children in the greater Melbourne area have a history of crime, especially theft, violence and rape. As usual the lefties try to play it down due to their childhood in the countries from which they came where life has little value. Even more dismaying is the probability that some of them are second generation and have never experienced life in the country of their parents. All attitudes are inherited so they treat the host country with contempt perhaps believing that all black immigrants look alike so they will never be caught for their crimes. I don't blame Apple booting any group of schoolboys carrying backpacks out of their stores regardless of race but I would especially watch those who believe he law doesn't apply to them because that's what their parents believe. There are many from Africa and the middle east in Australia who will never integrate and on those grounds should never have been allowed to gain citizenship but shipped home on the first plane. Racism is purely in the eye of the beholder.

As usual it was made a case of the dreaded accusation of "racism" rather than perhaps "ageism" or over-suspicion of teenagers. The store likely had a lot of experience with theft especially after groups of teenagers came in at once. The store (or any store) would presumably be entitled to fix a sign outside which states that specifically because of past thefts with teenage groups, no more than two teenagers can be in the store at the same time.
