NBA legend and broadcaster Charles Barkley slammed over fat jokes

During Tuesday night’s broadcast of Inside the NBA, Barkley mocked the city’s overweight women at length, saying: “Some big ol’ women down there ... that’s a gold mine for Weight Watchers.”

And he didn’t stop there.

“Victoria is definitely a secret [in San Antonio] ... they can’t wear no Victoria’s Secret down there,” Barkley added.

Two obesity organisations have hit out at Barkley, who himself is a spokesperson for Weight Watchers, calling on the 10-time All-Star to apologise.

“Making slurs about body size is just as offensive as making comments about body colour,” National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance spokesperson Peggy Howell told TMZ.

“One would think being a black man, he’d be more sensitive to having his physical body criticised. It’s totally out of line. He should absolutely apologise.

Barkley was never particularly svelte himself. Coming out of college he was known as the "round mound of rebound."

The holier-than-thou pissing match that defines PC continues apace.

I think they will be waiting a long time for an apology. Charles Barkley does not seem the type to do so especially when what he said was probably true.

You can lose your skin colour. Just look at Michael Jackson after bleaching.

Love to see two minorities face off against each other rather than picking on whites.
