Maori versus Maori
"The Human Rights Commission says it is taking Ngapuhi activist David Rankin's complaint about one of its staff members "very seriously".
Mr Rankin alleges the staff member wrote derogatory and potentially defamatory comments about him on her Facebook page.
"In the latest example, the staff member wrote on a public page 'David Rankin - pokokohua! I can't wait to tell him to his face!' This translates as wanting to boil my head, which is one of the most offensive statements any Maori can make to another Maori."
In his letter, Mr Rankin said the behaviour amounted to hate speech and brought the entire commission into disrepute.
A commission spokesman told NZPA Mr Rankin's letter arrived today and chief commissioner, Rosslyn Noonan, had asked the commission's executive director to investigate and report back to her by next Friday.

I suppose it is vaguely incorrect for a Human Rights staffer to say that she would like to tell a Maori activist to boil his head but it's not inciting violence so one would expect it to be protected as free speech

As i've said from the very start, these so-called "social sites", like facebook, youtube, etc. will cause huge problems for people for generations to come, especially for those fools who put personal information on those sites and expect that info to somehow remain private! A truly idiotic notion given the fact that in a digital world, actual privacy no longer exists as anything other than an illusion.
The internet is, without a doubt, one of the greatest tools ever devised by man. But like all tools created to help people, it also comes with the ability to do "great, great" harm. So far, most people seem too stupid to understand that.
Tongue Tied 3 can also be considered a "social site". The same people make comments and flame those who are different, such as anyone to the left of where they stand on the political spectrum, atheists, gays, trolls, etc. It has been made clear on many occasion, that these people are unwanted here. Being anonymous here apparently is not so. When Jon eradicates the unwanted, the comments here will significantly drop and this blog will become irrelevant.
Consider this my last post here. I am sure you all will be very happy. Bye.
I so agree with 4:46 - I've seen people with their phone numbers posted, pictures of the whole family, family squabbles played out on Facebook. It's crazy what people put in cyberspace!
The comment by 5:42 was trapped by the google spam filters but I rescued it
So maybe I am not such a meanie after all!
