We read:
"This week, several members of the U.S. House of Representatives continued the government's infatuation with controlling the Internet by using the frequently used rationale "we're doing it for the children."
Democrat and Republican lawmakers are busily creating a House bill that will mandate Internet service providers to keep computer records -- including identification information -- of users to be used by federal law enforcement agencies during their child pornography investigations,
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, if the bill is passed in both houses of Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama, it will help FBI agents investigating child-pornography cases.
While proponents of the bill claim there is bipartisan support for such a law, opponents say it is an attempt by big government politicians to "backdoor their way to controlling the Internet and those who use it," said political strategist Mike Baker.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) is expected to introduce a draft of the bill in April. He stated that his legislation will require Internet service firms to maintain records of users’ Internet Protocol, or IP, addresses for a mandatory period of at least 24 months.

Isn't that in itself a form of child-abuse: using children as an excuse to control other adults.
Or an excuse for a good old-fashioned, self-righteous, prurient witch-hunt (where tax-payers' money could be put towards better pursuits).
I suspect a lot of so-called "kiddie porn" turns out to involve willing teenagers over the age of 16.
Any excuse big brother will use to control our lives and minitor our thoughts
Yes, this is all about control of the people. But it's just a way for the govt. to get their foot in the door. Why? $$$$$ as in INTERNET TAX!
Anon 4:00... Having seen lots of real child pornography myself (no, I'm not a pedophile, I'm a cop) I can assure you that while there are while there are tons of videos of 18-year olds in pig-tails holding teddy bears marketed as "teen porn", there is also a huge amount of real child porn out there. I've seen too many pictures and videos of kids under 10 years of age having sex with adults (in every way imaginable) or being forced to have sex with each other. We've had several cases where people were attempting to "rent out" their child for sex. So your comments regarding a "...self-righteous, prurient witch hunt" and "I suspect a lot of so-called "kiddie porn" turns out to involve willing teenagers over the age of 16" doesn't negate the reality that there is LOTS of child sexual abuse happening every day in a variety of ways that is recorded and distributed. Your comments infer child pornography really isn't much of a problem. From someone who has seen it first hand: Yes it is.
DEATH TO BIG BROTHER RRRAAAWWWWKKK
10:49PM Maybe you are correct in the belief that genuinely underage sexual abuse goes on a sadly large scale (unless you are just referring to cases of Roman Catholic priests, which is certainly large enough, especially on the global basis that has indeed been recorded internationally), but as it's been recorded here, it seems that rather an over-large net has been spread over the internet to see what a fishing-expedition by government agencies can come up with, simply just using the standard excuse of "child-protecton" which of course parents ought to be ensuring!
