"Colonial" is a bad word

Here we go again: The 92-year-old George Washington University mascot known as the “Colonial” should be removed, a student petition says, because it is “offensive.”

“The use of ‘Colonials,’ no matter how innocent the intention, is received as extremely offensive by not only students of the University, but the nation and world at large,” the petition reads. “The historically, negatively-charged figure of Colonials has too deep a connection to colonization and glorifies the act of systemic oppression.”

If the petition gets 500 signatures, the Student Association will have to respond, according to The Hatchet. It currently is just two signatures shy of that figure.

Words are not offensive, it's the left's constant redefining of words that is offensive.

Maybe all those idiot students who signed the stupid petition should all start wearing dunce caps to show what idiots they are run by the NEA and the liberal written Text Books and i suppose they will replace it with a dumb Snowflake Mascot and look at two California campuses Stanford and U.C. Santa Cruz with two of the stupidist mascots and Evergreen Collage as well

To the Brits, we're STILL Colonials. We all know how that worked out. Well, some of us do.

This is insanity.
This is not a coloniser claiming the colonials as inferior.
This is a colony appropriating the term and depriving it of its negativity.
When the colonial wears the epithet, with pride the term takes on a whole new meaning.
Many such terms have been re-appropriated, like:
Paddy, or
