Re-branding madness consumes Washington

We read:
"‘Global War on Terror’ is out — ‘overseas contingency operation’ is in. ‘Terrorist attack’ is out — ‘man-caused disaster’ is in.

Since the new administration took office, Washington has been consumed, on both sides of the aisle, by a kind of re-branding madness. This marathon in semantics has had a variety of tactical purposes, depending on who’s got his Sharpie on the dictionary.

The Obama administration, through a string of delicate shifts in terminology, has softened — or at least obfuscated — the essence of the war against Islamic extremism. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, arguably the Washington equivalent to Madonna of re-branding, delivered an entire set of testimony without using the word ‘terrorism.’ She says she prefers ‘man-caused disasters.’”

Double speak and lies.

George Orwell predicted this behavior in his book 1984. But it seems to me the only time we are reminded of that fact is when a Republican president and his administration are the ones making the changes.

Is this the "Change!" that people voted for? I don't know since I didn't vote for Mr. Hope-n-change.

Well, the American people were promised change, and they got it. And they were dumb enough to believe that all change is good. Any 10 year old kid knows better than that.

It proves once again, just how incredibly gullible and stupid the people are. They will believe anything so long as it's packaged right. They were lied to by the candidates, they were lied to by their elected crooks, and above all, they were lied to by the left-wing media. And now they complain. They deserve not only everything they're getting, but also what's coming.

Re-branding. What an interesting concept. Actually, this is an old trick the Left has been using for a very long time. It's their way of getting the people to accept something they wouldn't normally support. (ie: socialized medicine becomes universal healthcare) It's like a restaurant covering bad food with a fancy sauce. Of course, this tactic doesn't work unless you have a consumer (voter) who's not very bright, and America has an abundance of those.

"Man-caused disaster"? That isn't very P.C. It should be "People-caused disaster."

The phrase may not adequately describe terrorism, but it is an apt description of our present administration in Washington, D.C..

but disasters are always MEN's fault!

This is nothing.

Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran are now officially "mischief organizations" under this Newspeak.

Imagine how much less mischief a Hezbollah or a Hamas could do if in fact we had moved a Palestinian-Israeli track in a direction that gave the Palestinian people hope ... And if Hezbollah and Hamas is weakened, imagine how that impacts Iran’s ability to make mischief

A "man caused disaster was Three Mile Island in 1979. 9/11 was a terrorist attack. An overseas contingency operation could be as benign as sending food for SE Asia after the tsunami. That hardly equates to what we're facing now.

This is double plus not good, or something like that.

Obama must think is is British.

QUOTABLE QUOTES
"One thing seems certain by 2016: Taxpayers will be paying Detroit to make the cars Americans don't want, and then they will pay again either through (trust us) a gas tax or with a purchase subsidy. Even the French must think we're nuts."

Does that make "water boarding" now being referred to as "surfing"?

So I'm guessing this headline is a huge no no:

NYC police: Terror suspects wanted to commit jihad

From the Associated Press this morning. A couple of nuts wanted to bomb a synagogue and community center and then try to shoot down military planes.

And it seems as if they had the hardware for it too.

And here's something:

"An official told The Associated Press that three of the men are converts to Islam. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to discuss details of the investigation. Three of the defendants are U.S. citizens and one is of Haitian descent, officials said."

You're right Times. The odd (see: typical) thing is, not one cable TV "news" outlet even mentioned the men's conversion to Islam. Not one!

BTW, this was a year-long, undercover FBI sting. The explosives the men had, (along with a fake Stinger missile) were actually fake and were supplied by undercover FBI agents. Great job guys!!
