Obama Supporter Sues McCain for 'Hate Speech'

We read:
"Missouri voter Mary Kay Green has had enough. The supporter of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama filed a lawsuit this week over what she claims is dangerous "hate speech" coming from the rival campaign of Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

Green, a 66-year-old grandmother and "semi-retired" civil rights attorney, filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Kansas City this week accusing McCain, his running mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and their campaign manager Rick Davis of "intentionally, recklessly and irresponsibly" portraying Obama "as un-American, a terrorist by association, and `not like us,' a non-white individual."

Palin, Green alleges in her lawsuit, has at her rallies used false statements to work supporters "into a frenzy causing them to make death threats" against Obama.

The lawsuit claims that Green "suffers terror of the heart, anxiety and grave fear for the life of Presidential candidate and U.S. Senator Barack Obama" because of the McCain campaign's efforts to invoke hatred against Obama.

All investigations have found that NO-ONE said "kill him" about Obama at a GOP rally. It is just a report that sprang from the fevered imagination of one reporter.

I read about some of these obviously stupid, frivolous lawsuits and always wonder why the judge doesn't dismiss them outright. Then come to find out in many cases, the plaintiff wins something in the end. This whole country has been turned upside down. If the pioneers who founded and settled this country could see it today, they'd be in a total state of shock.

Aside from a direct threat to do harm to someone, which is called assault, or physically harming someone, which is called battery, the constitution has this article called "freedom of speech". Even if something could logically be considered "hate speech", it is still protected by the constitution. Although libs have been trying to chip away at that right for a long time now, I seriously doubt this will go anywhere, especially since it wasn't even directed at the witch who filed the lawsuit.

Until we start counter suing the idiots who file these kinds of suits we will always have to deal with them... Seems to me that a suit on the basis of attempt to defraud through frivolous litigation and civil rights complaints (i.e. attempt to shut down protected speech through frivolous litigation) should put people on notice that we will protect our rights vigorously.

To many blacks, the courts have become their personal ATM machines, using lawsuites like this one to make their "withdrawals". Problem is, it's our money they're withdrawing! Think it's bad now? Just wait until after Jan. '09. America will experience the "wonders" of minority rule as never before, and i for one think America deserves everything it's going to get because, stupidity and weakness should never go un-rewarded!

"bitch needs to be locked away or waterboarded.."

nah ANON.

That would be too harsh.

What really needs to be done is to drop her in Saudi Arabia totally naked with a large tattoo on her back of the Mohammad cartoon and FU*K ALLAH! inscribed in Farsi under it.

That would leave no Islamic stone unturned!

A civil rights attorney who has NO PROBLEM attempting to suppress free speech, a right protected under the first amendment of the constitution. But "hate speech" doesn't count apparently, and linking Obama to his questionable past associations fall under her definition.

The thing is, they KNOW what they are doing is trying to set the rules of the game. Anything negative about Obama must be suppressed through fair means of foul. IF you can only hear good things about him and everything good and bad about McCain, most will be more likely to vote Obama.

Are you sure she didn't sue the Obama's too? After all, statements like these did not come McCain or his campain:

- Obama "doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."

- politicians can scapegoat people who are “not like us”.

- he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black? (Also see a recording here.)

- Look out for his name. Let me just imply a little stuff, give you a little pause of this man with a funny name. Who is he? What does he stand for? He’s not like us. His name is funny.

Who said these hateful things? If you think it was John McCain, then you've drunk the Koolade. The first three quotes came from Barak Obama, while the last one came from Michelle Obama. I have yet to see anyone show that either McCain or his campaign staff said anything remotely like these statements.

Yes, I know there are idiots who are Republicans or posing as Republicans who have made similar statements. But they're not representatives of John McCain, and in fact, most Republicans consider such statements to be simply wrong, no matter who says them. In fact, John McCain has been so wimpy at disagreeing with Obama about anything, even points where they have day and night differences, that many Republicans are pissed off at McCain for being so limp wristed.

Anyway, back to my main point: Racist comments have never come from the McCain campaign, only the Obama campaign, and in fact, directly from the lips of both Barak and Michelle Obama. If this idiot wants to sue someone for racist comments, she needs to start with the source: Barak Obama.

ed,... one of the oldest (and most successful) tricks used by the Left is to keep their opponents on the defensive by throwing false charges at them. The fact that Mccain is a weak loser just makes their job a whole lot easier.
