"God"  that  unmentionable word

How not to answer a question below

During Fox News’ special coverage of the Democratic National Convention Tuesday, host Bret Baier confronted Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) in Charlotte about the Democratic Party’s decision to remove all mentions of the word “God” from their official 2012 platform. Instead of providing a simple answer, Durbin instead unfairly accused Baier and Fox News of insinuating that all Democrats are “Godless” creatures.

“If the narrative that is being presented on your station and through your channel and your network, is that the Democrats are Godless people, they ought to know better. God is not a franchise of the Republican party,” Durbin said. “Those of us that believe in God and those of us who have dedicated our lives to helping others in the name of God don’t want to take a second seat to anyone who is suggesting that one word out of the platform means that the Democrats across America are Godless, come on Bret.”

“No, no, no,” Baier replied, “I don’t think that‘s what’s being said. We are reporting what’s in the platform.”

The host then tried to rephrase the question. Baier informed Durbin that in 2008, God was mentioned once. In 2004, God was mentioned seven times and four times in 2008. “The question is why take it out in this time?”

Again, Durbin went back to his initial conclusion. “If you trying to draw some kind of conclusion that the Democrats are Godless, present your evidence. Present your evidence.”

If you throw a rock at a pack of dogs the one that yelps is the one that got hit.
Evidently, with Durbin, it struck a nerve.

No, it did not strike a nerve. Durbin just did not want to play Faux News right wing games. Fair and Balanced - BULLSHIT.

Hmmm....ask a question - WHY did they INTENTIONALLY remove ANY mention of GOD from their platform? - and get painted as right wing and BS.

Sounds like a nerve to me.....

Comrade Durbin knows that the best defense is a good offense, especially when dealing with Bret Baier and the rest of the totally "PC'ized" pussies at Fox. They're easy. There isn't one real pair of balls on the entire network. All they're good for is showing waves of commercials.

It's quite clear the atheists are very much at home in the Demoncrat party and at their convention. It's also clear they have a louder voice than most would have thought.

Hard to be an a-theist/non-theist in the religiously obsessed USA, which is almost as theocratic as Iran. Certainly no Presidential candidate dare say he/she is atheist and expect to win.

Sorry, 12:40am but it was just question. A loaded question, sure. But isn't that what we should expect from our news stations? Don't we want our media to ask questions? Don't we want them to ask specific questions to make our elected officials defend their actions?

The problem here is, instead of just answering the question and defending their position, Durbin chose to spin it and accuse Fox of something they (at least by asking the question) weren't doing.

And no, of course Fox isn't a neutral reporter. Just like MSNBC isn't either. But that doesn't negate the fact that it was a honest question that Durbin could have answered.

Again, Durbin went back to his initial conclusion. “If you trying to draw some kind of conclusion that the Democrats are Godless, present your evidence. Present your evidence.”

It seems to me that actively removing references to God IS evidence.

The DNC’s one true god is Government Bureaucracy. No other deity can before him, even their chosen Messiah worships at the alter of the State. The State is their goal, and their means unto itself. Centralized political power is their nirvana, their heaven, their paradise and Summerland. All else are tools to achieve it. The destruction of the family, the destruction and corruption of traditional marriage and the sundering of the institutions of religion, are all instruments to empower their golden calf of State Agency. All blessings come from the Obamessiah, bow before the One and worship his divine wisdom of autocracy.

The difference between socialsim, communism and marxism is simply a matter of degree.

To quote Shakespeare's Hamlet:

"The lady (Durbin) doth protest too much, methinks."

1:59 AM, Those 'isms you mentioned are only models or ideals and can never exist in any actual society, except in a very modified or mis-represented form.
