VA: No freedom for anti-abortion speech

We read:
"In the past week, I have seen a white male in his early 30s standing near the Marine Corps Memorial on 50E/50W (Rosslyn exit) holding a large sign of with grotesque pictures of supposedly aborted fetuses at 10 weeks.

I have twice seen Arlington or U.S. Park police escorting this man away and asking him to take down the sign. I assume he does not have a permit or it is illegal to protest on federal grounds or in areas that may cause traffic disturbances.

I'm all for freedom of speech, but this guy is an ass. I have three kids and I can just imagine how those pictures would terrify my 8 year old. I don't think this is a case of them not wanting anti-abortion speech. It is about not wanting filth displayed where children can see it. would you be so indignant if it was an anti-war protestor with a picture of a dead soldier?

While i don't agree with that kind of approach, (graphic pics) the sign is a political statement, and therefor protected speech, no matter where it's displayed. Apparently, in certain areas, the "laws" of political correctness trump the Constitution.

Liz,Liz,Liz, you once again prove that liberalism is a mental disorder. This isn't filth. This is what "choice" looks like. If you don't feel it's appropriate for your born children, you oughta think how inappropriate it is for those children who experience "choice". I guess the truth really hurts.

Anyway, how hard is it to say, "Kids, don't look at those signs."?

Anonymous, I am not a liberal. Faaaaar from it. Yes, it is filth. Yes, the truth hurts. It is grotesque and it is not something my 5 year old needs to deal with quite yet. As for mental disorder... what kind of idiot thinks that telling a 5 year old not to look at something while I'm driving and too busy to enforce or even check is going to work? Forget the over the top rules of PC. This is about common decency.

Liz, your fellow leftists in the anti-war movement did far worse. Oddly enough, now that we're involved in 5 or 6 wars, they have mysteriously crawled back into the woodwork. Where is Cindy Sheehan? Do anti-war leftists have a mandatory retirement age?

So 10:02 PM - Some here don't like gay parades in case their kids see it. So then, don't let your kids see it, (but perhaps better to let your kids see the real world to prepare them for it - wouldn't that sound like a better parent and educator!).

Liz, Liz, Liz,

First your child is 8, then your child is 5. Which is it? Oh yeah, whatever age is convenient for your agument. It doesn't matter. If you're not clever enough to distract a young child for the few seconds it takes to pass by those signs, you're gonna have alot of problems dealing with your child(ren) when they become teenagers.

And Anon 3:03 in the state where I live, there are still sodomy laws on the books. So comparing a government sanctioned legal activity (abortion) with one that is still illegal is not valid. Still, I agree with your general concept. If there are gay signs on display and you don't like them just don't look at them.

@ Liz

Think about how terrified kinds in the womb would be if they knew their own mother intends on killing them, and does kill them each time there is an abortion? At least the dead soldier in a picture had the ability to defend himself, unlike the "choice" liberals talk about.

Well they don't, of course, anymore than all the diseases in the first few years of "life" that was the over-whelming fate until just the last few decades for the the countless generations of human-kind who underwent this delightful fate that "God" ordained for us to be born into!
