NZ CEO sacked after saying women take sick days once a month

We read:
"A New Zealand CEO, who sparked fury by saying that women were paid less than men because they took sick leave once a month, has been fired.

In his June 23 remarks, which sparked a national furor, Mr Thompson said there were "issues" that were not covered in workplace pay statistics.

"Why do they take the most sick leave? Women do, in general. Why? Because once a month, they have sick problems - not all of them, but some do," he reportedly said.

"They have children that they have to take leave of therefore their productivity ... (it is) not their fault. It may be that they have not got it sorted with their partners where the partners take more responsibility for what happens outside work."

Mr Thompson later apologised for his comments after being heavily criticised.

One would have thought that the truth or falsity of the statement was the main issue but it seems that just raising the issue was out of bounds. Some possibilities must not be mentioned, it seems.

Rule 1: Must not offend the sensitive with the truth.

Rule 2: Apply to PMS women, lesbians, and Muslims especially.

Have you noticed how we're going from the truth being required, to it being unacceptable, to now, where it's almost criminal?

If it were possible to make the useful idiots of the Left understand logic, (trust me, it is not) this story might cause them to see the real damage political correctness has done/is doing to our societies.

FWIW, the average woman in our modern society probably has about 4 times as many periods as the average woman from history. The reasons are birth control, later childbearing, shorter breastfeeding periods, and such.

Womens' bodies are under an increasing and, really, unprecedented strain these days. It would seem that we would do better to face the issue rather than bury it, else how to improve things?

By burying it, research into potential contributing factors, e.g. modern changes in nutrition, stress, sleep habits - also gets buried. Sigh.

Yeah, I sure have noticed that. The kid who first called out about the emperor's new clothes wouldn't have got away with it these days, would he?

Constant or frequent pregnancy followed by miscarriage or actual childbirth was far more demanding on the female body (and often resulted in death) than the alternative of more frequent menstruation.

Regardless, the health problems - be they larger or smaller, and/or just plain different than in the past - cannot be researched and dealt with by making the topic off-limits.
