I thought Muslims could do no wrong there -- and I may be right yet. The queston is who trumps whom: Muslims or homosexuals? So difficult when you have TWO privileged groups to defend! Wouldn't is be simpler to have everyone equal before the law?
Ontario's attorney general says he's looking into a complaint that a religious scholar told a Toronto gathering that homosexuals caught in the act should be executed under Islamic law.
Attorney General Chris Bentley says there is no place for hate speech against any group in Ontario -- including the LGBTQ community.
Bentley says he has referred the issue to the province's chief prosecutor and Toronto police, and they will decide if any charges should be laid.

If a Christian had said the same there would be no problem, of course: Big fine straight away! Ask Stephen Boissoin. And Pastor Boissoin wasn't advocating the killing of homosexuals -- unlike the Muslim guy.
Though Boissoin did get off eventually by appealing to his Province's highest court. No word on his legal costs but it would probably have been cheaper to pay the fine. So he still got penalized anyway.
A central reason why Boissoin eventually got off was because he did NOT "call for discriminatory practices". That would not apply to the Muslim guy.

PC pressure and actual official prosecution of "hate speech" prevents people's true opinions and character being generally known. It is better to hear or read what people really think and thus know them for what they are, especially if they are potentially dangerous, rather than they have to hide behind misleading and disguised information about themselves and their agendas.
Levy's suggestions are not far removed from nazi concepts of "final solutions".
Anon 5:38, while your comparison may be valid, understand that this really is not a gay issue. It's about how Islam gets a pass while Christianity does not.
Islam's goal, plain and simple, is world domination by any means. If you are a non-believer of Islam and you refuse to convert to Islam, then a Muslim can absolutely justify killing you. Islam is very patient and methodical. It creeps into a society slowly and once it is rooted, it can never be extinguished. Once Sharia Law takes hold, if you are a non-Muslim, you WILL be persecuted and ultimately killed.
Being tolerant of homosexuals won't get you killed, but being tolerant of Islam ultimately will.

The articles says that the Imam says that "homosexuals caught in the act should be executed under Islamic law." Ok - but Canada doesn't operate under Islamic law (yet at least). So, the statement is merely a hypothetical and probably a simply statement of fact. How is that in any way illegal?
It shows extreme disrespect, which should not be a criminal matter but shows the speaker or writer for what he or she is - a douche-bag bigot (deserving disrespect)!
If he were advocating that his hearing attack homosexuals, that would be incitement to a crime. However, he appears to be simply saying that the laws should be changed. Where is this going to end? If you can't say that homosexuals should be executed, can you say that they should be jailed? Are you allowed to say that the anti-discrimination provisions should be removed? In fact, it is possible to say anything negative about homosexuals which will not be treated as "hate speech"?
