Arrested for a tattoo

A man who allegedly revealed his tattoo of a mosque being blown up at an English Defence League rally in Birmingham has been arrested.  Sean Reah, of South Shields, South Tyneside, has been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred.

The 39-year-old was reportedly recently pictured lifting up his T-shirt to reveal an image of a Muslim place of worship with 'BOOM!' displayed across it.

The picture was taken during a demonstration organised by the English Defense League in Birmingham city centre on Saturday, July 20.

A spokesman for West Midlands police said: 'A 39-year-old man has been arrested in South Tyneside on behalf of West Midlands Police on suspicion of using words or behavior, or displaying written material with intent to stir up racial hatred.'

The image sparked outrage after it was posted online.  It was taken at a demonstration in Birmingham, according to The Sun, where police made 20 arrests after officers came under attack on Saturday.

Much of the violence at the event came from Leftist counter-demonstrators

Is that a tattoo of a mosque blowing up or the tattoo of the results of training in a mosque?

Even a simple image can be read in more than one way.

Why wasn't the internet poster arrested instead for posting hate speech?

2:38 AM I don't know how you can possibly evaluate in any objective way that Britain is any worse PC-wise than the US, or to say "much, much worse". Sounds like you have a bias in favor of your own country, or under the influence of xenophobic views (so often expressed on this site).

Anon 2:25,
The only bias i have is toward facts, the facts we read and hear every day about the insanely illogical and idiotic goings on in Britain. For a rational person, this story would be enough to prove my case.

Blow up all the mosques, they are temples of satan.

6:12 - "facts" can be correct or incorrect, or they can be distorted or otherwise misrepresented to suit the agenda or motives of the author or relayer of the "facts" in question. The US media in general (and often in particular) is very biased. That is a "fact" you can of course dispute, but you will have difficulty being very convincing!

2:16am. When someone in the US is arrested for a tattoo then you can say we are equal, till then Briton is still WAAAAAY more PC and pussified towards muslims than the US is!

2:03 You are guilty of confirmation bias. This site alone demonstrates how much PC-ism goes on in the US, which even invented it in the first place, so it's a bit rich to criticize the victims of your own exported "culture"!
