Why Isn’t The Mainstream Media Covering The Hate Speech of Wisconsin Protesters?

What happened to all those Democrat calls for "civility" that followed the Giffords shooting?
"As many of you know, this week in Wisconsin local public employee unions, with the help of bussed in protesters from the President’s PAC Organizing for America, are rallying outside the state capital to demonstrate their anger over the Governor’s budget which calls for state workers to contribute to their pension and health plans (albeit to a lower extent than private workers do).

The tone, language, and hate speech displayed by these state workers and the demonstrators from the president’s PAC are just as hateful and more widespread than anything real or manufactured about the Tea Party. None of this hatred is being reported in the mainstream media.

Things started getting nasty when unions began calling Wisconsin Governor Walker “Mini-Mubarak” comparing his actions to that of the recently deposed Egyptian despot. Along with the hateful analogy, the creators of this ditty said the governor had “threatened to call out the National Guard if workers protest against these cuts!”

As the budget vote neared, the protest rhetoric got more hate and violence oriented, comparing the governor to Hitler, rapists and drawing targets on his face. Most disturbing is the fact that many of these protesters are teachers responsible for our children.

The answer is simple. The employees who failed to show up to work should be fired. If the employees are under contract and they break that contract, that is grounds for firing. If they are not under contract, then Wisconsin is an "at will" state, so they can still be fired without reason. There are many qualified unemployed or underemployed workers who are more than capable of taking over the positions.

To the left it's only hate speech if it's directed against them. They never consider their own speech to be hate speech even though they evince real hatred.

As a retired Wisconsin State employee, I revolted by the actions of those current state employees that I used to consider my friends. The vileness of their speech and actions makes me really wonder how I used to consider them friends. I am so glad I retired and left them behind.

The union members are getting screwed by the repugs.

Really? How so? Until you prove your premise, your questions are meaningless.

How else are they supposed to fight back and protect their livelihoods?

They have a right to protest. They also have to suffer the consequences of those protests. If their absences are not legitimate, they can and should be fired. I am sure they are teaching their students that actions have consequences and yet they don't want to live those words.

Even so, the issue isn't the protests. What is the point of this particular post is the hypocrisy of the left creaming about supposed "Obama = Hitler" posters and the "threats from the right" while totally ignoring the "Walker = Hitler" and posters with crosshairs on his image.

When are people like you going to hold yourself and others accountable for your actions instead of trying to hurl invectives and make strawman arguments that have no bearing on reality?

Although I fully support the Gov, the part (they say now) that they are really protesting about is the reduced collective bargaining. It changed to that after they realized how greedy (if non-Wall Street can be called that) they were demanding that people with less should be paying their lavish benefits. The main article should have included that part as well as the financial side of it.

To paraphrase Ben Franklin, "Partisan hyperbole is never hate speech in the first person, such as 'Our Partisan Hyperbole,' but only in the third person, THEIR 'Partisan Hyperbole,' does it become Hate Speech."

that they are really protesting about is the reduced collective bargaining.

Which goes to show that this is not just about the money that the worker takes home but also the amount the union takes in the form of dues.

That is what the unions are trying to protect.

The Wisconsin taxpayers, most of which do not have the very generous benefits afforded the state employees, are having to foot the bill. It is irresponsible for the state to borrow money to spend on lavish benefits those in the private sector do not enjoy. As Margaret Thatcher famously quipped "The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money".

It is very clear that the taxpayers of Wisconsin do not want services in their state. They do not want state employees. They do not want teachers. They do not want firemen. They do not want policemen. They do not want snow removal and road repair. They do not want socialism.

It is very clear that the taxpayers want services in their state that are competitive with the private sector and employees that are accountable for their actions.

There.

Fixed that for ya.

Along with the MSM, the communist-inspired labor movement has all but destroyed this country. And given the chance, they'll finish it off completely. We've reached the point where the term union member = idiot. For decades, the totally corrupt Jimmy Hoffa bilked and made fools of his Teamster members. Now Trumpka, with help and support from the Communist Party of America is doing exactly the same to AFL-CIO members.

Some day, instead of calling someone an asshole, we'll just call them a union member.

Your question is based upon the fallacy that there is protection for their livelihoods. The fact is that in the work place, there is no protection for their livelihoods--not in the public sector, not in the private sector. You, your fellow Liberals, and those public workers who ride on the coat tails of the private sector need to open your eyes, look around, and see just how good they have it in comparison to those in the public sector--those WHO PAY FOR THEM.

Everyone claims to be all for reductions in government spending--until it directly affects them.

I hate the union parasites, I make $55,000 a year, I pay for my own healthcare, I'm not eligible for a 401k, and yet these unions bastards want MORE benefits? Hell no!

Perhaps you've been wondering why the MSM coverage of the protests in Wisconsin have been so one-sided in favor of the protestors. On the one hand there are the notoriously liberal teachers and their leftist unions, and the leftist labor movement in general which has decided to jump in and support the teachers. Demoncrats all.

On the other hand is the duly elected Republican governor and legislature of the State. In fact, the MSM hasn't even made an attempt to be unbiased. That just shows you what little respect they have for the intelligence of the American people.

"Republican governor and legislature of the State" are evil incarnate. Fact.
