Violence is not Free Speech

A California court seems to have had a small attack of sanity:

"A state appeals court rejected an animal rights group's free-speech challenge Thursday to a lawsuit accusing the group of conspiring with protesters who harassed Chiron Corp. executives, vandalized their homes and bombed the company's Emeryville headquarters.

The organization, Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty USA, claimed Chiron's February 2004 suit for harassment and invasion of privacy was an attempt to stifle freedom of expression. But the First District Court of Appeals in San Francisco said state laws against suits that interfere with free speech do not apply to illegal conduct.
