You can't win: British filmmakers remove leprosy gag from new children's comedy after outcry but were they too PC?

We read:
"The makers of Wallace and Gromit have been forced to take a joke about leprosy out of their latest film after an outcry from health campaigners.

Animators Aardman have caused a furore with a scene that appeared in a trailer for Pirates! In An Adventure with Scientists! - starring Hugh Grant and Brian Blessed.

It shows the arrival of the Pirate Captain, voiced by Grant, on board a captive ship demanding gold.

A crew member tells him: 'Afraid we don't have any gold old man, this is a leper-boat.' His arm then falls off, before he adds: 'See!'

Campaigners lined up to criticise the visual gag, accusing Aardman Animations of 'laughing at the millions disabled by leprosy'.

The Oscar-winning British film company agreed to remove the gag from the family film, which is set to be released in the UK this March.

But the move was criticised by some who claimed it was an over-reaction just to appease a vocal minority.

Just waiting now for the anti-"limey" bigotry to pour forth from "yanks", as it usually does when any PC issue Jon selects to put on here that's linked in some way with the UK!

I love the Aardman animation films. Too bad they felt they needed to remove that funny gag. Anon 4:01, take a chill pill.

Gee Anon 4:01, perhaps if Britain would stop showing the world that it is primarily a nation of Muslim-loving pansy's who are totally addicted to extreme PC, maybe we wouldn't have anything negative to say?

And BTW, facts are not bigotry.

"facts are not bigotry."

"Facts are stupid things" --Ronald Reagan, Conservative

One of the bases of humor is mocking the abnormal, the unusual, or even the abhorrent. The UK is fast approaching the point where government bodies (starting with special interest groups) will determine what you are allowed to find humorous, what subjects you are allowed to speak on, and what you are allowed to say about those subjects. This they will continue to call freedom, and so will the States when such fascism becomes acceptable.

Reagan said wait he said, perhaps as a Freudian slip. You cannot deny the exact words that he said. You can put a right wing spin on it, which is what you have done.

@5:33 - Go screw yourself. Opps, I MEANT to say, "have a nice day"
