No right to pray in a public park?

It should be realized that saving souls is an integral part of evangelical Christian beliefs and that some homosexuals have repented and changed their behavior with Christian help. So the preacher below was clearly exercising his religion, which the 1st Amendment says he is free to do
"A street preacher who intruded on an Elmira, New York gay pride event along with three others in 2007 has been arrested on disorderly conduct charges. Julian Raven had been fined $100 for refusing to obey police, who ordered him and several others out of a park where the pride event was taking place at the time.

He could have faced 15 days in jail for not paying the fine; reports say that he was sentenced to only nine days. Anti-gay religious conservatives agree with the preacher, who says that his constitutional rights to freedom of speech have been violated.

The case is on appeal and may be headed to the New York supreme court

Raven, and anti-gay Christians supportive of him, says that he has the right to pray in public even during an event that draws people who might take offense at the message.

St. Paul himself preached that homosexuals are worthy of death (Romans 1:32). No doubt he too would be jailed in America today.

One can "perhaps" understand the actions of the police, "if" their actions were based on the hope of eliminating the chance of a violent confrontation. Realistically speaking, i'd be willing to bet their actions were caused more by pressure from gay activists who are infamous for having zero tolerance for anyone who disagrees with them.

No matter the reason. The actions of the police "clearly" violated the preachers constitutional rights, not only to practice his religion, but to assemble peaceably. Ironically, it's the same right that allowed the gays to be there.

Paul was jailed for his preaching of the gospel, so this pastor is in good company.

It is no longer a secret that there are powerful forces at work in this country who's goal is to not only curtail religious rights and beliefs, but to do away with religion all together. These forces are part of the God-less Left, and have no intention of backing down. They will use any and all means, (the legislature, courts, media, etc.) to accomplish their mission. If they are successful, it will not be because of their ability, but because of our weakness.

It could also be a case of laziness. Its much easier to arrest one passionate preacher than to attempt to protect his right to express himself. Then the PC judicial system and politically beholden prosecuters get the case and choose to attack him rather than the politically powerful homosexual lobby.

Note: the highest state court in New York is the Court of Appeals.

That's a fact.

And there lies the hypocrisy of the Left: They want the freedom to express what the Left wants, and they will give others the freedom to express what others want as long it doesn't infringe on what the Left is expressing.

A judge just found that the Westboro Baptist Cult has the right to protest at the funeral of a fallen Marine and is making the father of the Marine pay the cults court costs, but apparently a preacher is not allowed to preach anywhere near gay people. Double standard?

So whats become of FREE SPEECH and FREEDOM OF RELGION? cant anyone do anything witout getting these gay pride finkholes upset?

If a gay activist disrupted a Christian rally with negative behavior, then the same posters here would be condemning it as hateful and unconstitutional - Did someone say "double standards"?

They did NOT violate his right to free speech. All they may have violated was his rigth to be in the park that day. Did he have a right to be in the park? Can a group reserve a park and keep other people out? Can cops keep an innocent person out of a park becuase of a safety concern?

If a cop tells you to leave a park, and as you are leaving in a reasonable manner and speed, he arrests you for continuing to preach, then you have a case.
