White women must not dress like Red Indians
On November 2, the second day of Native American Heritage Month, Gwen Stefani of No Doubt released her latest music video for “Lookin Hot” on YouTube. In the video Stefani wears a series of American Indian styled outfits while appearing in a series of situations such as being handcuffed and tied to a wall, dancing in and around teepees and fighting cowboys.
Soon after the video was released, a backlash on Twitter erupted and dislikes jumped from 60 to over 700 in a few hours. Several YouTube viewers made comments in frustration and support of the video.
One comment on YouTube stated: “This video is very insensitive and very discourteous. Stefani, you have disrespected and slighted the entire Native American people with your counterfeit portrayal of our heritage. The way you pranced and frolic around, dressed in so called Native American attire, is a mockery of our way of life and culture.

Shall we talk about the REAL "native American" history then? It isn't as shiny or noble as Gwen makes it out to be.
"Shall we talk about the REAL "native American" history then? "
You mean the one that was made up by conservatard revisionists?
Her actions for this video may not have been the smartest thing she's done, assuming she's done anything smart, but how she dress's is her own business. I'm quite sure many Indian tribal leaders wear so-called, "White mans clothes" while walking around their casinos. If Whites can be tolerant, i'm sure Indians can be also.
Apparently, some American Indians seem to have caught the "offended" disease which is sweeping America. Blacks, gays, women, midgets, etc. and other examples of natures poor sense of humor, have turned being "offended" into a major industry, when more often than not, it's nothing more than an old fashioned shake-down. ($$)
Lighten up guys...
You got it Anon 6:31
Gwen and her clip's director had clearly not gotten the memo that American Indians have been added to the list of groups that you cannot dress or act like.
There are not many groups left that are not on the list but apparently mockery of Mormons is still ok as the success of The Book of Mormon musical makes clear.
Maybe she should have dressed up like Brigham Young.
next time win and you won't have to worry about this. lol
indians were so primitive they had no written language and hadn't even invented the wheel. no wonder liberals like them, like Detroit with it's 50pct illiteracy rate. Predictable.
Anon 12:57 -- The lack of the wheel in the American continents is true but most if not all of the civilizations in these continents did indeed have writing systems. What the "historical" record shows (in North America) is the shell-shocked descendants of much larger civilizations that were nearly wiped out by plagues.
Beyond that though the simple reality is that there truly was no "Noble Savage" as some would want you to believe. The civilizations they created were neither more or less noble and high minded than any other civilization.
