McCain adviser sorry for 9/11 remark

We read:
"A top adviser to US Republican presidential candidate John McCain apologised today after he was quoted as saying a September 11-type attack before the November election would benefit Senator McCain. "I deeply regret the comments, they were inappropriate," Charlie Black said after Senator McCain said that if Mr Black had made such a comment, "I strenuously disagree" with it.

"I recognise that John McCain has devoted his entire adult life to protecting his country and placing its security before every other consideration," said Mr Black, one of Senator McCain's most trusted political advisers.

Fortune magazine said Mr Black, in discussing how national security was Senator McCain's strong suit, had said when asked about another terrorist attack on US soil that "certainly it would be a big advantage to him".

The guy was probably right, though. It's tricky to be honest in politics

Of course he was right unless you take his comment out of context, which is exactly what the media and the Obama campaign did. They live for slip-ups like this that they can then spin.

This should give the American people some insight as to what kind of people will be in the White House come Jan. '09! But since the people no longer care, it won't matter.

the people may care, but the media make sure those people only get positives about Osama and negatives about McCain.
Of course it's far easier to find negatives about McCain than it is to find positives about Osama (without a lot of creativity).

And yet the lack of any additional 9/11 attacks since 9/11 don't seem to be to the credit of the current occupant of the White House.

Instead of continuing the fight against the enemy here on our territory he took the battle to their doorstep and the enemies actions and disregard for life have alienated the very people who once supported them. But do you hear anyone giving him credit? No, we hear instead nitwits like Obama who have nothing but bile to spill and who plan to give up all our hard earned gains as fast as they possibly can.

A vote for Obama (or any Democrat for Congress for that matter) is a vote to dishonor the troops and both their tragic losses and their astonishing accomplishments in Iraq.

Well said Longview, but personally, i'm still waiting for someone to explain to me why we attacked Iraq instead of Iran, our true enemy! Was it simply because Saddam threatened to assassinate GWB's dear old dad? Or was it because the Oval Office nitwit wanted to bring democracy to the middle east, something that will never happen because they don't want it! If GWB wanted to spread true democracy, he should've started here!

Had we attacked Iran, the major source for most terrorism, and had our warriors been allowed to actually fight, it would be over by now. Now we're stuck in Iraq and Afganistan, and we're still going to have to fight Iran. We all know what we've lost, but what have we gained?

I've been around since FDR. I've always said that (IMO) Jihad Jimmy Carter was the worst president this country's ever seen. Now i have to tell Jihad Jimmy to move over and make room for Mindless George! What angers me the most is the fact that my small grandchildren will have to pay the price for all the mistakes he's made!......GSP
