The absurdities of the Left's preoccupation with the "correct" words keep piling up. From Poughkeepsie in NY, we read:
"Dutchess County Legislator Fred Bunnell, D-Poughkeepsie, has apologized for twice using the "N" word during heated public debate this week on illegal immigrants being allowing to drive.....
In making his point, Bunnell said calling someone an "illegal immigrant" is equivalent to slurs used against Italians and blacks, using both words.

So you are not allowed to use the "N-word" even to condemn it.
I wonder what the Italian word was: "spic", "wop", "dago"? All those words were much used for Italians in my youth but I have grown up thinking highly of Italians -- so it seems to me that hysteria about slang words is much overdone. The quality of the people concerned (good or bad) will make itself known over time, regardless of the words used. But in their usual shallow way, Leftists always do seem to think that just changing the words used will change the reality.
