We read:
"When Gordon MacKillop saw police coming up his garden path at midnight he instantly feared the worst. But moments later he was told he was in trouble for possessing an offensive garden ornament, and advised to remove it or risk arrest and possible prosecution.
He was informed that his glowing solar-powered garden gnome, dressed as a policeman, offended his neighbour John McLean -- himself a former police officer.
Police then served Mr MacKillop with a notice under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 for 'placing a garden gnome with intent to cause harassment to Mr McLean.'"
