Small hiatus
Apologies for nothing new here at my usual time. I lost a large part of my day today scrapping Windows 7 and reverting to Windows XP. And now Hotmail is down -- where I had a couple of stories to put up here.
And it is just after midnight where I am now so I am going to go to bed and hope to catch up later

JonJay,
Is windows7 really that bad? I have WindowsVista and was thinking of ditching it for 7 because of some inherent faults.
No doubt WindowsXP although "old" is the best basic platform for most computers.
No worries Jon. I can imagine it's alot of work keeping up with all of your blogs.
Bummer about Windows 7. My personal experience with a number of upgrades to and new installs of Windows 7 is that Windows 7 has been extremely solid. But of course, YMMV.
Go to Mac. Once you go Mac, you never go back.
Vista isn't as crappy as everybody makes it out to be, but for me at least, Windows 7 has been great. All the pretty features Vista had to offer, but much faster and less buggy.
We appreciate your work Jon so do not sweat it. The issue with upgrades is almost always compatibility with existing soft and hardware. We had good luck with 7 at home and work but we utilize mainly mainstream hard and software. Apple is good in the smaller platforms because they are supported by lots of apps but Macs are extra work in a business environment and none of us really have the luxury for extra commitment anymore.
MDH
This would be a good point to say "Thank you Jon" for all your efforts on this, and other, blogs. I have been a regular visitor to both Tongue Tied and Political Correctness Watch for several years, and I can imagine it is a huge task keeping these sites going. Very many thanks to you.
as said above ray , you are appreciated and you do make a difference , so thank you

Both losers! Windows XP-Pro is the only way to go!
Windows 7 is excellent, a major improvement on Vista.
Not enough to upgrade, but certainly enough that if you're going for a new installation you should go with it.
XP is a lame duck, no longer supported. If you're still using it you're part of the problem, a major potential source of malware distribution.
Using the oldest most outdated operating system is the way to go for conservatives.
