Ole Miss takes “South” out of fight song

We read:
"The University of Mississippi has shortened one of its fight songs to discourage football fans from chanting "the South will rise again" during part of the tune, which critics say is an offensive reminder of the region's intolerant past.

However, some fans have continued to recite the chant at the end of the song, "From Dixie With Love," despite the change made last week at the chancellor's request. The Ole Miss band performs the medley before and after games.

Dan Jones, who became Ole Miss chancellor in July, said he asked the school's band director, David Wilson, to modify the song to support the efforts of the Associated Student Body. He said he has received complaints from alumni that the slogan is offensive.

The modified version of the song ends abruptly before the chanting phase starts. It was first played Saturday at Ole Miss's homecoming game against the University of Alabama at Birmingham, but that didn't stop some fans from chanting.

Brian Ferguson, 26, head of the Colonel Reb Foundation, said he views the university actions as an attempt to silence students.

Based on this story, it's pretty obvious the South will never rise again, thanks to being infected by the highly-destructive and corrosive PC "virus". For generations, the South has been the most patriotic region of this country. And for decades, the anti-American forces of the far-Left have made emasculating the South one of their top priorities. It would appear they're getting closer to a victory all the time. This is sad news for true Southerners, assuming there are any left.

I'm left. I'm Alabama born and Alabama bred. And when I die. I'll be Alabama dead. Roll Tide.

I'm depending on the South to rise again to get us out of this quagmire.

Shame of ole miss for allowing a bunch of politically correct yankees to corrupt their southern heritage.

Dan Jones should be fired, he's not just censoring free speech, he's censoring tradition! Has he even looked at the Mississippi state flag? It has the confederate artwork on the corner!

How would black students feel if they where told not to play rap music in the dorm? Or if white teachers told them not to speak jive in class?

This country used to be politically incorrect, in the 1950s and 60s hispanic children where forbidden from speaking Spanish in school grounds, some hispanic parents went as far as only speak English at home.

But now you have a minority of uber-sensitive yankees telling Mississippi to go to hell. Well, I just hope the students at Ole Miss show them what's what.
