Politically correct reaction to a harmless joke causes a man to suicide

Britain:
"A medical technician killed himself after being suspended from work after someone complained that he made a politically-incorrect joke about a black friend. Roy Amor, 61, who was devastated at the prospect of losing his job making prosthetics, shot himself in the head outside his house.

He was facing a disciplinary investigation after suggesting to the black colleague that he ‘better hide’ when they noticed immigration officers outside their clinic. It is understood that the man was a close friend of Mr Amor and was not offended. However, it was overheard by someone else who lodged a formal complaint.

Five days after his suspension, Mr Amor received an email about the incident from his employers, Opcare, a private company that provides prosthetic and orthotic services to the NHS.

A few hours later police found his body in the road outside his home near Bolton, Lancashire, after being alerted by a neighbour.

Sources told The Mail on Sunday that he left three notes, all of which mention Opcare, including one written outside his workplace at 5pm on the day before he died in which he describes his despair....

Opcare chief executive Michael O’Byrne admitted that Mr Amor had been suspended over the joke.

He should have taken a few bureaucrats with him! This simply proves what i've been saying for a long time.

"Political correctness is a greater threat to us than is terrorism".

I'm sure the same employee at Opcare who filed the complaint is filing another complaint, this time on Opcare for creating a hostile work environment.

I agree Anon 2:03. It seems that violence is the only thing that the bureaucrats pander. I wonder at times how the face of the UK would change if middle class white guys and house wives started blowing themselves up, rather than radical Islamic martyrs. I always did like the movie Falling Down, with Michael Douglas. Although I have a feeling the propaganda machines would kick into high gear to label them lone wolves, or angry right wing zealots Sadly, I don’t know if the UK can turn around from its spiraling fascist thought police state, it has even invaded the “private” sector. It may have to devolve into anarchy before any semblance of liberty and normalcy once again becomes prevalent.

Another victim to the PC juggernaut.
It really ticks me off that the person to whom the comment was made was not offended - but someone else felt the need to get offended on his behalf.
I love the movie 'Falling Down' BTW

I wish more people would follow Mr. Armor's lead. You know how many stupid old people stand in front of me at the grocery store who don't know how to use the automated check out system.

The more Luddites who kill themselves, the less time I have to spend at Safeway.

Awesome, this is one less person standing in line at Safeway who can't use the self check-out line.

Hmmm 3:28, if there is no such thing as "fair", how about I hunt you down and kill you because I don't like what you said?

This story would have been better if he killed the bureaucrat who suspended him, then looked up the file and killed the person who filed the complaint.

Best of all would be if the bureaucrat told the complainer to STFU, but I think we're too far gone for that to happen.

And how did that guy have a gun in Britain with which to shoot himself in the head to commit suicide?

There are plenty of illegal guns in Britain and western europe - many coming in from eastern europe along with criminals of all sorts! The Iron Curtain had some uses! But Ronald Regan can't ask for it to be re-built!
