Atheist Calls Christians Planning to Attend D.C. ‘Reason Rally’ ‘Mindless Parasites’

More Leftist hate speech
Atheists are coming to Washington, D.C., en force. We already told you about the so-called “Reason Rally,” which is being dubbed a Woodstock for non-believers. The event, to be held on March 24, will bring together “free thinkers” and the organizations that serve them. But following the announcement that this massive undertaking would be occurring in our nation’s capital, it seems some Christians are crafting a response — an event called “True Reason.”

The Christians behind the effort want atheists to know that they’re reasonable individuals who are prepared to confront them with love. Here’s what the “True Reason” web site says:

"This website represents Christians from all over the country—even some from as far as Australia and New Zealand—who know that Christianity is both good and reasonable. We’re ready to meet the New Atheists at their Reason Rally in Washington: in truth and in love, to share person-to-person, one-on-one, with anyone we can."

At least one atheist who caught wind of Christians’ plans shared his disdain on FreethoughtBlogs.com. PZ Myers, who will be speaking at “Reason Rally” and who was also responsible for hijacking a Blaze poll about faith last year, had some strong words for believers planning to attend the atheist “Woodstock” event:

"I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. This gathering will certainly attract swarms of mindless parasites…this is just the first public announcement of their intent that I’ve seen."

What a contrast in attitudes! It is certainly clear who the haters are. Leftists are constantly accusing conservatives of hate on the flimsiest of grounds -- in an attempt to cover up who the real haters are.

Words of Wisdom:

Turning the other cheek never accomplished anything other than getting you slapped on the other cheek. It also provides atheists with a good laugh.

Weakness, often referred to as tolerance, begets aggression.

The only way to defeat the radical Left is to use their own tactics against them, and to show the same passion as they do when doing it.

"The only way to defeat the radical Left is to use their own tactics against them"

That will never work. You douche bags do not have the balls to do it.

The most vocal atheists are just anti-Christian bigots. Amusingly these fanatics are often sexual deviants who cannot accept that their perversions are not accepted among certain groups. They will, however, shy away from challenging any philosophy that might bring them to physical harm (like Islam).

I performed a test one time. I took a mythological story from Norse tradition, changed all the proper names to biblical ones, and posted it asking readers to post what book of the bible it was in "just so I can see if you have actually read the rule book for your own invisible friend club. No peeking!"

About eighty responses, sixty-odd of which gave a book in the bible as their answer. Of the rest about half called me on the trick and the remaining respondents had no answer. This is the intellectual level I'm used to seeing from believers. Hell, most of you can't even keep track of your own sects history. Had some tool try to tell me that evangelicals had ALWAYS been against abortion and contraception. I had to give him the list of books written by big name evangelicals (some still prominent) back in the 60's and 70's that showed he was wrong.

SO if you don't believe my invisible friend created the universe, how did it happen? Oh yeah, you can read about it in books that you don't truly understand. Yeah, all life started as a random happening and then climbed out of the primordial soup to give us civilization as we know it today. I guess one man's junk is another man's treasure after all. Peace.

Pravda - science is backed by actual evidence, while your religion is backed by folk myth and wishful thinking.

If this was the other way round and an atheist group tried to hijack or confront a chritian get-together in DC, there would be shouts here of atheist interference with the freedom of religion, etc. etc. Such hypocracy!

12:23 That you equate atheists with sexual perverts shows how utterly bigoted you are! You might as well have said they are the Devil's spawn and then burn one at the stake on your front lawn?

Pravda said...

Anon 5:57 Yeah, I hear you. What actual evidence do we have that life randomly came to being in the "primordial soup"?

Take your time. Research it. Think about it. Its OK. We already know. There is no scientific evidence supporting that hypothesis other than someone's wishful thinking.

I can feel Yahweh in my life. The only myth believer is you, my friend.

@Anon 5:46 PM, first off, you really proved nothing other than to illustrate that many of the people you polled are truly ignorant. Of course, to assert that this is fact exclusive to "evangelicals" simply illustrates ignorance in itself.

Try polling the average adult with basic questions of politics, geography, history, math, etc., and you will very quickly find very similar results. And wait, they already have, and the sad reality is that the average person IS very ignorant of basic knowledge. Blame the schools, the government, or whoever you want, but it doesn't change that fact.

Regardless of your specific beliefs in religious scripture and teachings, be they literal, allegorical, or "non", isn't the real point behind most religious teaching simply an underlying message of morality, virtue, and selfless love? Though an Atheist may not believe in God, doesn't dismissing the fundamental messages underlying most religions teachings deprive yourself of important and useful intellectual light?

Pravda - why don't you actually study science, instead of relying on atavistic mythology? You have more opportunity than any previous generation to study all the world's accumulated knowledge (or at least what the internet can tell you, if you lack a local library with actual books). Don't just look at "confirmation bias" from religious websites that just put their own spin on any facts in nature. Perhaps you think everyone puts their own spin on everything. Well, many do, but just try and reach your own objectivity, if you are in any way interested in objective "truth".

The biggest problem I have with JJ Ray's editorial note at the end of the article is the fact that he has automatically equated atheists with the left. I know a lot of people who are on the right, and also intelligent people who have no need to carry the crutch of religion in order to be successful. Similarly, there are any number of left-wing Christians.

Perhaps you should study logic. As it turns out, I have spent my life working as a scientist, yet even though I have asked repeatedly for scientific proof of your position, you offer nothing but attacks of my beliefs.

So let me try again. What scientific proof is there to justify that life began in a primordial soup? C'mon, you can be technical, I have an advanced degree. (Yes that's right, a scientist with an advanced degree that belives in Yahweh. So much for me not being an independent thinker.)

There are those that worship science as a religion. These anti-theist “scientists” do not realize that their belief that there is no God violates the scientific principles that they claim to have dedicated their lives. The true scientist is honest with himself in that there is no proof for or against a “divine” creator. A scientist who does believe also acknowledges that there is no proof for God and that his faith is the definition of faith, a belief that does not require proof. Scientists that deny God are just as much faith based believers as their counter parts that do believe. The honest scientist, dedicated to science says, “I don’t know.”

Yes, a real scientist would not claim to know what he/she could not know YET. But that is what a theist "scientist" claims here, with such an ironic russian name. The latter even puts forward the straw-man to another poster to prove life came from "primordial soup", as though that had any real scientific meaning. What was his "advanced degree" in? - fallacious argumentation?
And how convenient that "faith" requires no proof. It's licence to believe in anything. And how do you define "God" anyway. If it's as vague as a "necessary first cause or Creator" that simply begs the question and provides no useful information.
