Actress suing Amazon for revealing her age

This is primarily a privacy issue -- and there's not much privacy in the age of the internet -- but I think Amazon would have a free speech defense.

Going by the photo above, the gal certainly looks a lot younger than she is so I can understand why she is peeved
An actress suing Amazon's Internet Movie Database (IMDb) website for revealing her age has identified herself in an amended complaint filed Friday.

Huong Hoang, of Texas, filed her suit in October as "Jane Doe," claiming that the only way IMDb could have found out her real age was if it had used her credit card details, obtained when she purchased an "industry insider" package from the website in the hope of gaining more work.

The 40-year-old actress - who goes by the stage name Junie Hoang - claimed she has since lost out on work opportunities due to Hollywood's stigma against older actresses and is seeking more than $1 million in damages.

The B-grade actress has appeared in TV shows 1000 Ways to Die and Operation Repo and in the movies Gingerbread Man 3 and Saturday Night Cleaver.

One would assume her age had to be listed on a variety of public forms and documents over the years, (drivers lic, etc.) and because of that, she has no expectation of privacy when it comes to her age. So, does this mean she lied on those forms?

Besides, she's an attractive woman. You would think she would be proud to be that age and still look that good...... Women.

It's how you look that people respond to, unless they see some give-away signs to make them think otherwise, which is not always negative, and maybe very positive. If she has some east-asian background then in that culture older people are even more respected!

The birthdays of many celberties are often listed in news papers and THE WORLD ALMINAC maybe she should sue them also

If she can prove they used private financial data to get that information then she has a legit case. I would violate even their own internal privacy standards. Amazon just has to prove the information is readily available through other public venues. If they cannot, she should ask for a lot more than 1 mil.

As Anon 1 said, her age must be listed on a variety of government documents, which makes it public information.

Why is she afraid of showing her age anyway?

This is really stupid, I have to write my date of birth on pretty much every job application.

Now I sell insurance, my clients also have to write their DOBs, in fact, their premiums are often based on age, gender and lifestyle.

Furthermore, what kind of name is Huong Hoang? Jesus, Hollywood should sue her for having a name nobody can remember.
