Don't mention the word fat, says Weight Watchers

We read:
"Weight Watchers Australia has banned the word "fat" from its online message board in what appears to be another case of political correctness going too far.

Disgusted members of the Weight Watchers community forum are being told the three-letter word is no longer considered acceptable language on the site.

Posts containing any mention of "fat" are blocked and attract an automated reply: "Sorry, but your message contains language that we consider to be inappropriate for WeightWatchers.com.au message boards and violates our community standards and conduct guidelines, which are part of our terms and conditions.

"The following word is not permissible on our site: FAT. "If you would still like to send your message, go back and delete the word." A member, who contacted The Courier-Mail, said "fat" had become a "dirty word" on the Weight Watchers message board last month.

Not only is the political correctness aspect stupid, but did they not think of the fact that people may wish to discuss reduced fat food options? Besides, everyone will just type f@t, and when they disallow that, everyone will find another way to type it. MORONS.

I always check food products for the saturated overtly plump content.

Does that meet their standards?

yes, how then can you describe or discuss the nutrient called 'fat' that is necessary in the correct quantity, or 'body fat' in any other biological or medical sense -?

They've recently been running ads about how Weight Watchers is now simpler, so guys can use it. (As if only women are capable of thinking.)

How are we supposed to understand anything on their site if simple words like "fat" have been banned?

Or should I put it in WW's version of "guy speak"? "Ooga booga, fat :::screams like a monkey:::."

It's their site, they can ban the word if they want.

It's stupid, ill-conceived, and juvenile to do it mind you. But they can. And their customers can take that as a hint that they might want to take their money to a company that isn't run by people with such a mindset. Capitalism in action baby...
