Obama still supporting black racism

We read:
"On Easter, Mr. Obama and his family attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Washington. The liberal press corps made much of the fact that the church was founded in 1863 by freed slaves. Yet the church’s pastor, the Rev. Wallace Charles Smith, is a race-baiting black nationalist. He is a more polished version of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, a longtime pastor of Mr. Obama’s.

Mr. Smith lacks the bombast of Mr. Wright but peddles the same philosophy of racialism, grievance-mongering and black victimology. In one of his recent sermons, Mr. Smith argued that institutionalized racism continues. “Anytime a swimming club can deny membership to students simply because they are African-American or Hispanic is an indication that Barack’s presidency does not solve the question of justice in this nation,” he said.

Really? Where and at what institutions are blacks and Hispanics denied access to swimming pools? This is a figment of Mr. Smith’s imagination.

He further stressed that segregation was not really eradicated; rather, it has simply morphed into a more subtle system of racial oppression through conservative talk radio and widespread opposition to affirmative action.

“Now Jim Crow wears blue pinstripes and goes to law school and carries fancy briefs and cases,” Mr. Smith said. “And he doesn’t have to wear white robes anymore because now he can wear the protective cover of talk radio or can get a regular news program on Fox.”

He even compared Rush Limbaugh to the Ku Klux Klan and the White Citizens’ Council. In other words, conservatives - Mr. Obama’s critics - are incorrigibly racist and seek to perpetuate a watered-down form of apartheid. For Mr. Smith and many others on the left, disagreeing with racial quotas is not only wrong, but evil - a manifestation of deep-seated intolerance and bigotry.

The opposite is true: Conservatives are the true heirs of the civil rights movement. They believe in a colorblind society and equality under the law.

Perhaps he was referring to the Valley Swim Club incident in 2009. There have been quite a few others.

Perhaps he was refering to the Valley Swim Club - a private organization. Regardless of your personal beleifs, a private organization should alwasys be able to maintain its own rules, based on race, religion, creed, sexual orientation ect....

Kind of like the National Black Caucus...

Well said MLW, and quite true.

"Beware of those who cry racism, for they are the true racists..."

Maybe it is. That depends on the reason the Obamas chose to attend that particular church. Was it to mingle with a groups whose vote he depends on and build good will there? Was it because he feels more comfortable with the people who attend there? Or perhaps is it that they agree with the 'hate America' rhetoric that passes for religious preaching?

If their reason is the last, it's a big deal. If the former two, not a big deal.

I am no fan of the President but I have to admit that unless BO visits more than just this once I can't honestly say that he's guilty of anything worse (for this visit) than massaging his failure to actually join a church somewhere.

WORD OF THE DAY
MAYDAY, n.

A double purpose word, it denotes America's dire straits, when deployed a single 6-letter word, and symbolizes the threat to our liberty (Marxism), when it's split in the middle into two 3-letter words.'

let's face it, Obama likes divisiveness. His former mentor loved it.

Maybe.

Anyone who has ever moved and gone "church shopping" usually will take the word of a friend or do a little research on the church before attending.

Here you have the President of the United States attending a church whose pastor teachers the same philosophy and hatred that his former mentor did. In that the Secret Service and his aides would have checked out the church, the pastor and the beliefs of the church before the Presidents steps into the door, leads me to believe that he agrees with the teaching. It appears that he agrees with the teaching and is not avoiding it.

Because of security measures, it is very difficult for sitting presidents to attend a church on a regular basis. It is disruptive to the congregation and most presidents are sensitive to that.

Therefore, if you are going to attend one church on what is arguably the most important holiday in Christianity, you'd better be sure of the church and its beliefs.

People are known by the company they keep and Obama's continued willingness to support and agree with such racially divisive individuals says a great deal about the man. It is also telling in that for the first time in anyone's memory, the President did not issue a proclamation acknowledging Easter and its significance to billions around the world.

MLW and Anon 11:16, I was referring to JJR's statement. The statement was that Mr. Smith was inventing these incidents, to me it is clear that he has a basis for his rantings. However, just because several swim clubs have racist attitudes does not absolve the Rev and those that attend his sermons.

In at least this and the movie theatre case, it was caused by the "patrons" foul behavior, not by skin color. Of course, it IS "part of their culture."
