Students Sue Over Removal of American Flag T-shirts
We read:
"Four California high school students who were forced to remove their American flag T-shirts on Cinco de Mayo filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the Morgan Hill Unified School District.
While other students at the school wore clothing depicting the
colors of the Mexican flag and other attire related to the holiday, the four students and one other were told by a school administrator that they could wear the shirts any other day but May 5, which celebrates the Mexican army's victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla.
The students’ attorney, William J. Becker Jr., said state law explicitly grants students the right to exercise freedom of speech by wearing “buttons, badges, and other insignia” and prohibits public schools from interfering with their speech rights unless a “clear and present danger” exists, such as the commission of unlawful acts on school premises, the violation of school rules or substantial disruption of the school’s orderly
operation.
“The U.S. Supreme Court has held for decades that students do not shed their First Amendment rights at the schoolhouse gates,” said Becker. "Students who wish to show their pride for another nation’s heritage should not have their speech protected more than those who celebrate America’s."
The lawsuit was filed against the district and also names the principal and assistant principal as defendants.... School district officials reversed the school administrator's decision, calling the incident "extremely unfortunate."

I sure hope these kids take the PC'ized EduNazi's for every cent they have! It's the only way to teach these mindless, anti-American leftists a good lesson.
another good argument for uniforms and no irrelevant flag waving of any kind

---You do realize that how we dress can be a form of free speech? Sometimes I wear a confederate flag t-shirt just to be politically incorrect.
So yes, I hope these kids sue, I hope these kids win and I hope those goddamm Mexican groups learn that this is America and if they don't like our flag, they can get out.
John, since Cinco-De-Mayo is not Mexican Independence day, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinco_de_Mayo) I don't think it should be equated with July 4th. It should be
Cinco-De-Mayo-Be-Damned,Remember-the-ALAMO"Mexico-doesnt-celebrate-Cinco-De-Mayo,so-why-should-we
Cinco-De-Mayo, (or the "5th of May"/"May Day" celebration) is an internationally recognized celebration of Marxism/Communism which is why it's symbolized by the solid red flags. Keep in mind that most of the countries south of our imaginary border have a "very strong" Marxist presence.
Also, one of the reasons this behavior on the part of illegals is tolerated by this leftist governments bureaucrats is because the Demoncrats see every illegal as a potential vote for them, thereby giving the Demoncrats limitless power for the foreseeable future. It's also why we no longer have a southern border, and will not have one until this present govt. is toppled.
Well somehow the communists thought it appropriate to take over the old semi-pagan May Day festivities celebrating the arrival of Spring and the re-birth of life - oh yes, rather like the Christians used it for the alleged revival of one Jesus during the Jewish spring festival to celebrate passover.
The simple fact is that Cinco de Mayo is NOT a recognized U.S. holiday. It would have been much more prudent for the school to educate the students say, in History class, about Cinco de Mayo instead of promoting it as a school-wide celebration.
The fact that ANY school in the United States would deny its students the right to wear or display the flag is absolutely reprehensible. I hope these students win and I hope they win big.
