NRA cuts questionable deal with Democrats
The NRA does seem to have become pissweak in recent times
"Three prominent Washington D.C. websites are reporting what many capitol insiders warned of: the National Rifle Association has made a deal with the devil (i.e. anti-gun Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid) to limit the free speech of Americans in exchange for their carved-out exemption.
Though at first objecting to the DISCLOSE Act, which would radically limit the free speech of organizations and thus, gun owners, the NRA has now agreed to an exemption for their organization (and other mammoth, mostly liberal, organizations like AARP and probably Moveon.org) in exchange for support of the Democrats’ bill.
This legislation would place draconian limitations on the ability of organizations to voice their opinions on politicians, and by extension, their legislation. The chilling effect on free speech would be difficult to overstate.

More background: "The legislation in question is designed to restore more campaign finance rules in the wake of last year’s Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission decision, which removed prohibitions on corporations and unions running TV ads opposing or backing candidates in the run-up to an election".

As a result, congressional leaders announced they would exempt us from its draconian restrictions on free speech. If that happens, we will not be involved in the final House debate. If it doesn't, we will continue to strongly oppose the bill."
Sounds like, once again, we have Chicago style politics going on.

In other words, they won't "support" it. But it's not the general principle of the bill they oppose, only the effect on them. If other organizations are damaged by this thing, that's just fine with them.
There's a reason why I'm not an NRA member. Same s***, different day.
I find in astonishing that all the stories focus on the NRA who lobbied out an exception for themselves in an act that shows how inequality under the law is a feature of this legislation.
The REAL story here is how the lawmakers are STILL FOR SALE.
The US congress is the biggest whorehouse in the world. And when you have the power to make the crimes you commit legal, while making those very same acts illegal for eveyone else, this is the result.
But keep this in mind friends. They couldn't get this corrupt, nor could they keep getting away with all their crimies, without the mindless American sheeple re-electing them and sending them back to DC. Don't blame the crooks. Blame the fools who tolerate them them being crooks.
Maybe the NRA knew they couldn't derail the bill, so they decided to carve an exception for themselves. Ethical? Perhaps not, but if the NRA keeps their free speech, they can use it to fight those who oppose free speech.
Form another rifle organization? No. We need to go to DC and start using the rifles we already have! It's the only way we're going to rid ourselves of these political parsites.
The NRA did not lobby for the exemption, it was a political ploy by the Democrats that has backfired with them losing support of the radical left but gave them some good mud to sling at the NRA. See the link in other posts if you want the NRA's real position and for those of you who "say" you dropped your membership, glad to see you go if you ever really were a member. If you believe liberal muckslinging rather than research the real truth you are not much good in the fight anyway.
