Boss not allowed to fire employee who called him 'Son of a whore'

Left-run Spain at work:
"Calling your boss "son of a whore" - once the ultimate insult in Spain - is no longer a sacking offence because the term is so common. El Mundo newspaper said a Catalan employment tribunal ordered that an employee who was dismissed for insulting his manager should not only get his job back but also receive €6500 ($10,000) in compensation.

The panel also criticised the company for failing to take into account the charged workplace atmosphere and the changing trend in language which meant that such a phrase - traditionally regarded as the ultimate insult in Spanish - was now "common usage in conversations".

How ridiculous, how can a manager lead a company if he can't fire those who insult him? Insulting your boss is insubordination.

Fine, he can't fire the insubordinate idiot. He should assign him to clean toilets and empty the garbage for a year.

So I guess I should expect my local McDonalds employee to start using all sorts of profanity while I order my food. After all it is common to lace your conversations with profanity these days.

I remember the Star Trek movie where they made fun of our current-day overuse of profanity.

Frankly the court missed an opportunity to turn the pendulum the other way and instead simply tried to nail it in place.

The whole point of having words and phrases as profanity is to have something exceptional to vent strong emotional content but when those words and phrases become part of everyday speech then they loose their power.

In today's society it seems there is a movement to make profanity common while at the same time they are trying to make common speech profane (IE. politically incorrect speech).

The conservative motto:
Pro business! Anti-individual!

Obviously Anonymous at 4:00 a.m. has today's conservatives, as we understand the term today, confused with its original connotations in the 18th century, when it referred to those who wanted to roll back the gains in individual liberty from the American Revolution and the gains in standards of living from the Industrial Revolution, and conserve the old medieval feudal order, where government elites lived off the labor of the masses, and supported their favored corporations with tax money. That group realized what they stood for was a loser, so they went about trying to get power by trickery, including inverting the language and appropriating the "liberal" label for themselves, and branding as "conservatives" those in favor of maintaining and expanding individual liberty and standards of living. The labels to describe the underlying attitudes may have changed, but not the attitudes themselves.

In Spain, it seems, the government actually owns the business. Maybe they need a government department to apply to, to terminate employees?

I guess you think it's perfectly fine for employees to insult their bosses.

Yes libs do think that Bobby, so long as the boss is not a member of a protected group. If he were all hells fury would be aimed at the employee.

McNasty et al,

You have never read Dilbert have you? You guys can not take a joke. No wonder you are so pissed off all the time.

I wonder what would have happened if it was the the manager who had called the employee a "son of a whore", but didn't sack him. My guess is that it would still be the manager who got it in the neck.

Comedy rule #1: First, make sure you have a joke.

Rule #2: If you have to explain that it WAS a joke, see #1.

Funny, I thought this whole thread was a joke. Oh, dopey me.

---No, respect for the boss is paramount, even when he's wrong. If I'm the boss and an employee insults me it is my duty to either fire him or discipline him harshly, if I let one slave challenge my authority pretty soon I'll be dealing with a slave rebellion.

Maybe there are rare cases where you can insult the boss, maybe if the boss insults you first with a really grave insult then perhaps you can reply in kind to show you're not a pussy. But, if you come to work late and your boss complains and you reply "f-ck you, motherf-cker," then you should be fired immediately.

The only relevant point here is, does the rain still flow mainly down the drain? Other than that, FCUK SPAIN!

You guys do not treat President Obama that way. So, why should I believe you with your comment above?

Because Obama is not my boss. It can be said that we are his bosses, but not the other way around.

Secondly, for most of us, we respect the office, but not the man.

Thirdly, I have never spoken directly to President Obama, so you'll excuse me if I think the point you try to make is worthless.

If he had called his (Black) boss a nappie-headed Ho would that have made a difference?

Thanks Don Imus, where ever you are.

Expected response from a conservatard.

I'll take that to mean that it addressed your points so well that all you had left was a meaningless, childish insult. It must happen to you a lot if you expected it.

You can always recognize someone who doesn't have an actual argument by their constant reversion to name calling.

---Because Obama is a PUBLIC SERVANT, and WE THE PEOPLE are paying for his outrageous $400,000 a year salary. In other words, he's our EMPLOYEE.

It's fun to take the opposite view to the extreme and see the chimps here fling their poop.

Cool, you are using capital letters. No need to shout Booby.

Anon 12:47,

Have you seen me use such terms?

Yes, some here have used such terms. I always cringe because it's wrong when anyone does it. Plus I want to slap the guy who gets really, really crude against you leftists because his garbage is no more valid than yours. But just because one guy can't control himself does NOT mean that the rest of us don't have valid arguments.

Of course, with all the "Anonymous" crapola on this board, how do I know it wasn't you pretending to be a wacko conservative and posting that garbage to try to make us look bad? There's no way to know.

You don't seem to treat your employees very well.

Good points in your post. I never pretended to be a wacko conservative. There's enough of them already. Sorry, couldn't help it. I just pretend to be a wacko liberal - I get more mileage with that. You must admit, when I'm around here, things are not as boring. It's cool to see you guys get are charged up.

"You don't seem to treat your employees very well."

---Well, Obama is a bad employee, I treat him the way he deserves to be treated. You need to watch Glen Beck and see the connections Obama has with ACORN, APOLLO and TIDES among other far left groups.
