Jokes not allowed

It's a play on the expression "shotgun wedding"

A hunting-themed wedding cake that shows a bride holding a rifle under her arm while dragging her groom's body is being slammed online, as critics call it 'trashy' and 'gross.'

A photo of the custom cake was posted on Reddit's Wedding Shaming forum, with the person who shared it writing: 'Immediately no. Immediately no.' While the design was beautifully executed, many agreed the theme was in poor taste.

'The hunt is over,' reads the sign on the front of the cake, which shows a bride in her wedding gown pulling her camouflage-wearing husband-to-be away with a hunting a rifle tucked under her arm.

The intricate cake by Graceful Cake Creations was decorated to look like a tree stump, with a deer, two large bullets, and fall leaves surrounding the bride and groom.

The backlash was directed at the couple who ordered the cake, with a number of commenters pointing out that the design itself was well-done.

'A trashy idea, but well-executed,' one person wrote. 'Can't say it's a graceful wedding cake though...'

'10/10 Bakers Points for the execution, but 0/10 What the French Fried F**ks for the content,' someone else wrote. 'This could be funny if Cupid had a compound bow and both bride and groom were struck by Arrows of Love or somesuch, but this "bride murders groom" thing is over the top gross.'

'At least the groom isn’t bloody?' another added.

No one is being forced to buy this cake decoration, so why are some trying to ban it?

I am surprised by the surprise expressed here.

Why do people write these very public, very hateful comments about the wedding cake of somebody they have never met?

Simple - there are some people who simply enjoy hurting people. There is nothing more that you need to understand about them.

Weddings are very special, very emotional occasions. Very publicly ridiculing a wedding is sure to hurt the participants, it may well cause them extreme emotional pain. For some people causing that sort of pain is a very pleasurable thing.

I certainly remember a time when certain bars were known as places where toughs hung out, toughs who enjoyed beating somebody, anybody, for some "appropriate" reason, perhaps a guy wore a pink shirt. Of course it wasn't really about the color of the shirt, the color of the shirt was just an excused to justify the joy of hurting someone.

Don't look for logic, don't look for reason, don't try to relate. While most of us do not enjoy causing pain, there definitely are some people who do enjoy causing pain. If you don't enjoy causing pain you will never understand, you will never relate.

Hitler's SS was full of such people. But that mentality of enjoying giving pain isn't limited to mid-century Germany, it has existed everywhere throughout time. In mid-century Germany they joined the SS, in mid-century America they joined the KKK, today the spew vitriol on Reddit.

But do understand this, not all, but a substantial portion of those who enjoy causing such pain on Reddit, or elsewhere, would be absolutely thrilled to join a modern day version of the SS. If you don't believe that, read about the behavior of Antifa compared to the behavior of Hitler's Brown Shirts. The radical edge of Socialism attracts the same mentality everywhere, always.
