CT: Must not mention that a black boy is black

A North End Middle School teacher was placed on paid leave Wednesday as school officials investigate claims that she made racially insensitive comments to students.

Math teacher Kathleen Pyles will remain on paid leave while school Personnel Director Ron Frost and school attorney Maurice Mosley investigate, said Paul Guidone, chief operating officer of Waterbury schools.

The investigation was sparked by parents who contend that Pyles referred to a sixth grader as "black boy" when she could not remember his name, according to one parent who filed a complaint.

It reminds me of the old story about Stevie Wonder.  People were sympathizing with him for being born blind but Stevie was upbeat about it.  He said:  "It could have been worse.  At least I wasn't born black!"

Do the people above think the kid concerned was as unaware as Stevie Wonder?

A: He doesn't know he's black.

"Im so tired of all this PC nonsense"

If your so tired of it, why don't you just complain on right wing blogs, using misspelled words, atrocious grammar and inane comments? Oh wait, you already are. Never mind.

"Black" was supposed to be the current okay term for persons of a certain ethnic type, so why the fuss? Is there a new term we must all adopt? I've heard a lot of people of all ethnic types refer to "white people", so should anyone make a fuss about that?
If "black" is wrong then so is "white".

... okay, maybe I was a bit slow there - so was it because "black" was linked with "boy" even if that was a fact? But he was a "boy" not an adult being demeaned as an inferior "boy".

There must be more to this story. However, if not this might be a good example of why PC BS will drive the races apart, not bring them together. It simply means that you always have to be extra careful about every phrase you utter to or around other races, unless you are a renowned Marxist, then you can make comments about them being "clean" and "well spoken" or make ethnic jokes about 7-11s.

It's a no-win for the teacher. Had the teacher NOT recognized that the child was black, the teacher would have been called insensitive as well.

Face it: Blacks don't want to be singled out as being black, yet they want to be recognized as black. It's a double-standard that will bite anyone who is not black.

That's the advantage of the "race card" it can trump everything in any way.
