Poland furious over Barack Obama's 'death camp' comment

President emptyhead didn't know the difference between "Polish" and "in Poland"
"Poland's foreign minister has demanded Barack Obama apologise after referring to "Polish death camps" during the Second World War.

The US President made the slip while honouring Jan Karski, a Polish resistance fighter who was among the first to raise the alarm over the Nazi concentration camps, during a ceremony at the White House.

Poland has long been sensitive to any implication that it was involved in the Holocaust, accurately pointing out that the camps on Polish soil were run by occupying German forces.

Foreign Minister Radek Sikorsi took to Twitter to insist that the White House apologise for the "outrageous error" and said that Prime Minister Donald Tusk would make a statement on Wednesday morning.

Five bucks says that if he apologizes, he'll also explain how the Holocaust was Bush's fault.

Liberals in the US will call Poland racist for demanding an apology. Obama can do no wrong and make no mistakes, so if you criticize something he does, it must be based in racism.

The statement was factually correct, which even Poland admits, but their little PC asses still consider it a slur. So this is just another manufactured story. I'm so sick of these on both sides. If you want to attack Obama, attack him for being an America hating marxist.

No, it was not factually correct. They were German (Nazi) death camps, located in Poland. Big difference.

The liberal dipshits in DC have "Trayvon Martin" day before the trial is even over, presuming that race was a factor and that Zimmerman is guilty and no p ossibility of self defense.

And what did the US do about Nazi concentration camps in Poland or anywhere else until it was forced into WWII by Japan's direct attack on its naval fleet in Hawaii (as late as Dec.1941), and then it was never about Nazi KZ camps until after the War (although everyone knew about them)!

Anon 2:12, factually correct or not, is not the point. Any rational person in such a position as the POTUS should know about "diplomatic politeness". It is not smart to insult others on the world stage, be it fact or not.

This is the result of electing a neighborhood agitator with zero experience at anything as POTUS. It's also the result of allowing tens-of-millions of idiots to vote.

The US even continued to trade with Nazi Germany during the 1930s, notably JFK's family business.

Anon 3:06, the US spent the years before P.H. beefing up its military in preparation for the inevitable fight, its (as w/all nations) oft morally-bankrupt societal leadership notwithstanding.

Face it, President Obama (peace be upon him) does not like Jews--just as most Muslims do not like Jews. Why is this even a news story?

I've heard these places referred to as Jewish Concentration camps. I certainly never thought that the Jews were running them. Just like I never thought Japanese internment camps in the US were run by the Japanese. I don't care about your weak PC asses being hurt because Obama said "Polish death camp". I know he's talking about a camp in Poland that had Polish people, both Jewish and not, imprisoned there, as well as other nationalities, I'm sure.

The camps in Germany were run my Nazi Germans. The ones in Poland and other countries were run by Nazi Germans or their surrogates. It's easy to say the Nazi's had German death camps, Polish death camps, Ukranian death campps, and even Jewish death camps, without the need for people to be confused or offended. This wasn't a history class. What Obama said was a simple contraction. There's no need to get your nuts in a bunch over semantics.

Now, Obama, being a liberal, may have been trying to offend, but I doubt it. And although I hate Obama, I don't care about PC crap like this. I don't need six more months of stories like this.

Blame the teleprompter.

Between the 58 states, his two sons, and now this among others, the big O is really making some friends. Somebody fire the stupid teleprompter.

How dare the Poles lecture the Obamessiah. They should just be thankful they can bask in his divine presence. If they do not like the words of The One, then they are impure and in need of reeducation by the first dog eating Gay president.

a lot of lefties making excuses for the president. God forbid they ever criticize him for anything whatsoever. They have a higher loyalty to Obama over our country, just make a bad comment about our country and they'll agree, but say something, anything bad about obama and they'll defend him.

The Poles are being childish in their over-reaction to a bone-head but likely honest mistake. Nevertheless, it seems clear that this is something the Poles are hyper-sensitive to. Given that hypersensitivity, the White House is being too cavalier about its response. If Obama had so insulted a Moslem country rather than  a white, Catholic, country that had utterly discredited communism, Obama would be much more interested in making clear his lack of intent to insult. But from Obama's point of view, who cares if he insult the Poles, it's not like we care what they think, they're just a bunch of right wing religious white trash crackers.

And can you imagine just how apoplectic the MSM would be if Bush had done the same thing. Ink factories across the nation would be on overtime just to provide the ink needed to print the word "stupid".

I agree.
Like Obama or not, no-one assumes that 'Polish' death camps are anything other than Nazi camps on Polish soil.
This is all silly.

Anonymous: "The statement was factually correct..."

To all those who find no difference between "Polish" and "located in Poland" - just try to think of things like "American terrorist attack on WTC on 11/9" or "Cuban Detention Facilities at Guantanamo". After all it's the place that matters, right?

I think Tidford Tatt hit the nail on the head. It was probably just poor wording on Obama's part. The real story here is not about Obama, but rather the double standard of the MSM. A liberal will be judged simply to have mispoken. A conservative making the same mistake in choice of words would be labeled as racist, stupid, ignorant of history, etc.

I'm sure somewhere out there a newspaper or MSM had a headline about the "American Terrorist Attacks" in reference to 9/11 and nobody was confused or offended, very similar to the "London Bombing", which I'm sure I heard.

After all, we all know the U.S. has a military that always bombs only military targets and it's all done in the open.

Anon 11:40 PM..........Well as long as youuuu're sure,
alright then.

Anonymous said...

Well that was not the case in WWII (ever heard of Dresden?)

Anonymous said...

to the moron saying "it's factually correct"

It doesn't matter now does it? if you offend the whole country of Poland, you've done something stupid.

Anonymous said...

Is this a Polish joke?

Anonymous said...

Anon 10:11, the statement was ambiguous at worst, and I doubt more than the Polish politicians and sheeple were offended.

And yes, it is a joke everytime some pundit or politician make a big deal out of a mistatement (or a troll points out a spelling error).
