Must not criticize homosexuality in Europe

No free speech there. Though if antbody had criticized Christians that would have been OK
The European Court of Human Rights declared Thursday the conviction of four Swedish men for hate speech was not a violation of their freedom of expression.

The four men, ages 19 to 24, put about 100 flyers, referring to homosexuality as a "deviant sexual proclivity" that has "a morally destructive effect on the substance of society" and is responsible for the HIV and AIDS epidemic, into student lockers in a school in Soderhamn in 2004.

They were asked to leave the premises by school officials and were later accused of promoting hate speech, The Local reported.

Swedish Supreme Court convicted all four in 2006 of agitating a minority community because students were not given the opportunity to refuse the flyers. They were given suspended sentences and fines ranging from 200 krona to 2,000 krona ($265 to $2,650).

In 2007, the men took their case to the European Court of Human Rights, arguing the ruling violated their freedom of expression. The court called the complaint "inadmissible as being manifestly ill-founded," and said the sentence was reasonable.

i bet if they criticized Christians there would be no penalties. They should have told the eu crap court they were moose-slimes and they could continued to spread their stuff.

Wait a second....what were these IRL trolls doing wandering around a school stuffing flyers in lockers? Last time I checked collages don't have lockers. Were these guys wandering around a high school or middle school stuffing papers in lockers? I think I'm more concerned they might be chatting up school kids (at age 24 that's fucking creepy)than I am their ignorance.

The european union needs to break up into is sperate nations again

@GoAwayBird, It will. Greece and others will drag the ecnomic engines of Germany, and France down with them like an anchor. In Europe "Free" is an exceptionally limited and ironic term. You have free speech as long as it is free speech that they agree with and does not upset people. Italy is quickly turning into the next Greece as well as moving back towards fascism and falling to new forms of Mafia influence. The US isn't that far behind them, especially if the US attempts to bail the basket case countries out.

indeed. Their behaviour alone, intrusion on school property, stuffing any flyers at all into those lockers (never had any in any school btw, everyone just hung their bags and coats on open racks in the hallway, nothing was ever stolen) should (and probably would) have been enough to arrest them and take them to court.

But indeed, freedom of expression in Europe no longer exists unless that expression matches the ideas of the ruling class.
This of course has always been the case, Europe being the feudal society it is (we've just replaced all powerful kings with all powerful prime ministers and pressure groups).

Well the equivalent could be said of many modern countries including the US (as in Orwell's "Animal Farm").
