'Legalise gay marriage? You may as well legalise marriage with animals'

That's one opinion you are not allowed to have in Britain, even if you are a Conservative
A senior Tory councillor is facing calls to be sacked after suggesting his party 'may as well legalise marriage with animals' because Prime Minister David Cameron supports gay marriage.

Conservative Party officials immediately took action against James Malliff, a cabinet member of Tory-controlled Wycombe District Council, Buckinghamshire, after he tweeted the remark to a former Tory MP.

Mr Malliff, who is in charge of big society and localism at the council, was immediately suspended by bosses for the ill-advised and 'completely unacceptable' Twitter post.

The London Evening Standard reported that Mr Malliff tweeted to former Conservative MP Paul Goodman, who had asked whether legalising gay marriage could lead to multiple Sharia marriages being made lawful.

Mr Malliff said: 'There is no doubt the PM is wrong on this issue. We may as well legalise marriage with animals, crude I concede but no apology.'

The man was raising a "where do uou draw the line" argument and I think there is little doubt that polygamy will be the next campaign. And after that "zoophilia"? I can't see how you can argue for homosexual marriage and oppose (say) marrying your dog. What arguments WOULD you raise? I can think of none. You could say that it is "unnatural" but that is precisely what homsexuals reject. Once you abandon standards, you are completely adrift. But Leftists like it that way, of course.

Marriage originated as a contract for reproduction and if there is no possibility of that it loses a large part of its meaning.

The leftists have standards, their standards are quite simple too. They just want you to meekly accept whatever they want to happen and they want you to utterly destroy anyone who disagrees with them.

First homosexual marriage. Then comes polygamy. Next comes pedophiles clamoring for their right to marry children. Then comes Bestiality aficionados wanting to marry their dogs. Then some Vegan will come along and claim discrimination because he can't marry his house plant. And finally the scatologically inclined will fight to be able to marry the large turd I just proudly created.

You can have all the civil unions you want, but Marriage is between a man and a woman. God has made that abundantly clear, and the Founding Fathers formed the United States on a firm belief in God.

Marriage should only be between two people who can "naturally" produce an offspring.

Is 1:49 AM suggesting couples who are incapable of producing offspring should not be allowed to marry? How can that be established ahead of time unless the couple state they don't want children, are known to be infertile or are clearly too old; or is 1:49 suggesting that only the theoretical possibility is required because they are of opposite genders?
As for the "slippery slope" argument, then any marriage is a slippery slope to some other kind of marriage. Marriage between two adults of the same gender is between consenting adults. Polygamy has already been practised and has sometimes been legal. If there is ever a huge demand for it when it involves consenting adults and all the legal aspects can be sorted out (though would seem difficult) then it would be the will of the majority and not against the Constitution presumably. Marriage between adults and minors is unlikely to gain popular support and even less between humans and animals, as in both cases minors and animals are not viewed as equal to adults in their legal capacities.

"God has made that abundantly clear"

god did not tell me. Did you get an email from your imaginary entity?

Silly statement.

BTW, how does same sex marriages actually affect you? Does it cause a dark cloud to hover over your house?

Yes, if they are same-sex couples. Nature does not recognize same-sex reproduction.

Anon 3:40, you seem to be one of those atheists who is so unsure of himself that he has to mock the beliefs of others.

Your problem is likely that you don't hear God because you don't know how to listen. Try this:

Take some time alone in a quiet place with no distractions. Get comfortable and close your eyes, and pray. You can pray silently or out loud--it doesn't matter. Prayer is not some magical incantation, but a simple conversation between you and God. Pray that God will, in some way, reveal Himself to you. Humble yourself to that which created the Universe and gives you life. Try to put your personal and mental distractions, biases, and prejudices aside and focus on just letting God reveal his presence. Don't expect burning bushes or booming voices--God really doesn't typically work that way. Give it time and be patient. And if you ultimately glean nothing from it, then you have at least had the opportunity to enjoy some contemplative time.

He did a lot of that in the old testament. Why did he stop? And don't give me that "It's a mystery" baloney.

There are polls that show a majority of homosexuals do not actually want to get married. The true purpose is to crush traditional views of family and home. Once the church, the home, and the family no longer hold any definition, standard, or meaning the State will be the only thing left for support. The gay lobby in England is in for a very rude awakening in the not too distant future when their PCness bites them on the ass in the form of Sharia and radical Islamic dogma. The Islamists are not swayed by bleeding hearted sob stories, and are more motivated to crush such expression with violence than the leftist statists would be to prevent it. Christian condescension is the best they will ever have it.

All this silly nonsense about a legal contract. I don't care who or what you want to spend time with. It's about time we separated the religous joining from the legal. If you want to enter into a binding contract with a Boa Constrictor, go right ahead, but don't expect the local house of worship to provide a ceremony.

Oh, it's no mystery at all--in fact it's really simple: The Old Testament explains God's supernatural interaction with Man. The New Testament explains God's personal interaction with Man through Jesus Christ making God's plan for Salvation so easy to understand. Jesus was God's way of interacting man-to-man, peer-to-peer.

The Old Testament required Man to sacrifice to God for repentance and remission of sin. In the New Testament, Jesus was the final sacrifice for all Men's sins, and those who accept that sacrifice will be saved from their sins.

JJR - I am fervently against gay marriage but even I can see how flawed your argument is.
Animals cannot consent to any type of relationship.
Neither can children.
Polygamy I see as a legitimate next step if SSM is accepted - as long as it is between consenting adults.
The essence of my opposition is this - marriage is not merely another social compact. It is something more. It (and the families it produces) is at the very foundation of our species and our society and is worth preserving for that fact alone - to alter or diminish it is to undermine the very foundation of who we are.

If homosexuality is so right and correct, then why do so many homosexuals hide their gayness? And don't say it's because of fear of persecution and violence, because if society deemed it right and correct, there would be no persecution or violence. Fact is, society at-large abhors homosexuality.

"why do so many homosexuals hide their gayness? "

because of bigots like you and your ilk.

Do any of you idiots/bigots posting here know that many of your own direct ancestors conceived outside of legal marriage? Even royal families know and did that!

11:59's circular argument is amazingly and totally risible!!

@11:59- The same reason many members of various minority groups avoid attracting attention to themselves...bigots like you.

What about the lies about the existence of the figure "Satan"? If "God" also exists and is as omnipotent as "He" is claimed to be, he could have extinguished "Satan" immediately. The alternative must be that "God" is playing games with "Satan" while both of these supernatural beings are using humans as mere pawns. How "loving" is that for a "God of Love & Justice"??

Anonymous said...

Yep: the divine "chess game" - how many human souls can God win for his Heaven side, and how many souls can Satan win for his Hell side. This is the Christian view in its primitive essence, but is just the much older view of the Good/Evil, Ying/Yang conflict in human life, and illustrated in all human cultures.
