Must not portray Obama as white

We read:
"A Louisiana State Senate employee was suspended without pay Tuesday after sending an e-mail to hundreds of government workers apparently trying to show President Barack Obama as white and suggesting that opposition to him doesn't equate to racism.

Several African-American lawmakers replied to the e-mail, complaining that it was offensive.

The message, sent by Senate researcher Tammy Crain-Waldrop and obtained by The Associated Press, includes a doctored photo of Obama with light skin, blue eyes and a different hairstyle and says, "Do you like him any better now? No? Me neither ..... Then you're not a racist."

Doesn't matter which way you look. Obama is a polarising figure.

If you dislike what he is doing and stands for you are a racist.

Obviously that some in the US have problems with half caste citizens and do what most white countries do and relegate them to the lower order.Others are trying to point out that his colour doesn't matter and are being accussed of being racist or am I being unfair and failing to recognise that Obama is the holy grail for the black community and could not possibly have any whiteness in him?

Why can't Obama straddle the fence and work with the Congress and grasp the chance to bridge the divide.

Silly me. I forgot that politics is involved.

I didn't see it in the article, but i'm betting the girl fired is White.

To be accurate, she wasn't fired. She was suspended.

If the state has a policy about not using email to send political messages or jokes, then I can almost understand why she was suspended.

However, the heavyhandedness of the response and the rhetoric spewed by those who are "offended" makes me believe that the punishment is more political correctness gone a muck than anything else.

This part of the article is just as troubling:

A spokesman for Gov. Bobby Jindal's office said he didn't know of any members of the governor's staff receiving the e-mail Tuesday. But spokesman Kyle Plotkin said in a statement: "There's no room for this type of discourse when we face serious challenges as a state and country. We can disagree without being disagreeable."

Where is the "disagreeable-ness" in what was said in the email?

I hope that he was referring to the backlash against the employee and not what she sent forth.

But I am not holding my breath.

This person was misusing a government email system. American corporations have very strong punishments for doing the same thing.

Govt employees who used the email system to praise Obama are undoubtedly quaking in their boots right now.

by now there is probably white in most every black in America. They certainly were much blacker when they came directly from Africa. They'll never eliminate white people since they reside 'in' them now. lol.

The real problem here is, of course, that the ability to "keep whitey on the hook" must not be diluted - no, never! - and so the sanctions against such dilution must be swift and strong in order to be effective.

Office politics is painful when you're dealing with politicians. ;)

Um, hello, he's f*cking 1/2 white for crap sake. But he's also an American. Who gives a rat's *ss what color he is. If he is competent, then he deserves his position. If not, then he needs to be booted.

If you are going to bring race into the mix, then let's call a spade a spade and say that he is failing as a president, and because he is black, a black should not be president.

You see just how pathetically silly this all sounds?!?

By the left's own line of reasoning; if one did not vote for President Obama, he is therefore a racist. I suppose I could extrapolate that same line of reasoning to state that if one did not vote for Sarah Palin, then he must be a misognyst.
